Raised welts??

I have a question about what appears to be welts. Tonight our Darby came to see us and had a huge welt on her back about the size of a nickel and about 1/4" high. It's under the skin, and is a little sensitive to the touch. It doesn't look like a bite, but I'm not ruling anything out. Then about 1 hour later, I checked it again and it was down to the size of a dime and only raised up about 1/8".

It's hard to get pictures of it because of the hair or else I'd post a couple.

Any ideas??

Thanks,

Steve

Anything new in the environment? Like: new detergent used on her bedding, did you shampoo the rug, new food given, a lot of any food in particular given? I found out the hard way my Mastiff is very allergic to turkey after his 1st Thanksgiving with us - major skin/gut issues with getting some added to his kibble. Have you recently given her a topical flea/tick treatment like Frontline, Advantage?

Think back on about the last 3-4 days about what she's been exposed to that may have caused the hives

Hope this helps,
Penny

She only has the one welt, and it's almost gone now when I just checked her.

She did get some turkey over the past couple of days......and that is something she hasn't had before. That is the only thing out of the ordinary she has eaten. She got a couple of new treats from the doggy bar at the pet store, but I wouldn't think those would do anything.

She hasn't been eating well today either, and her stomach is very active with noise. It sounds like she has an upset stomach, and it very well could be from the turkey.

Same food she normally gets, we didn't wash her bedding, we haven't applied anything to her, and she hasn't had a bath in about 10 days.

I'll keep a close eye on her(as usual), and see how she eats and acts tomorrow.

As there is only one welt, I would suspect that it is a bite of some sort. As it is already going away I wouldn't worry about it. :)

Well I'm not sure what it was, but it's gone...........LOL

It appeared last night and it was gone this morning.

Oh well, she's fine and acting fine..........so I'm not going to worry about it.
