It's steroid and has all the nasty side effects that steroids can have. I wouldn't use it unless there was no other option. They don't usually solve anything, they just hide the symptoms.
I didn't want to use it, don't plan to stay on it.........it's a VERY long story, but we are already off of it in the last 24 hours, but just wondering if that's why he started with the diarehha after starting the meds. He still has it.........
I just started using it on Chance yesterday and he has no tummy problems. He had a severe allergy outbreak and the vet wants to run a course of graduated doses over 20 days and then he will be off of it. We only are using it as a last resort and I will be having blood work done after we run the course the vet wants just to make sure everything is in order. I hope whatever is wrong with your baby gets under control soon.
According to this website, it can be a side effect. However, going through my pharmacology notes/book, it doesn't seem to be a common one. The most common ones are increased drinking and urination. I'd say something else is causing it.
