For a male, an example of an outrageous contract would be that the breeder (seller) gets to use the dog on any bitch he wants, at any time, for free, for the dog's entire life. That would be outrageous even on a dog placed for free, but certainly moreso on a dog that has been paid for.
And yes, there is quite a bit of politicking and backbiting among breeders - but when you get the same opinion from a large number of breeders, you're likely hearing more truth than 'jealousy'. Most breeders that I have talked to will acknowledge another breeder that is deserving of a great reputation, and have no problem being beaten by a good dog.
What is your experience in the show world? (That sounds challenging, and it's not meant to.)
as you know Julie there is only one breeder that is considered to have a pure american boxer line and that comes from a top organization.
Sorry, actually I've never heard that one before. Please PM me as to which breeder and which organization, as I'd be quite interested in doing pedigree research!
