Aimee...you will love your new bed.:) I didn't get a pillow top this time but, it's a thicker mattress. I can't touch the floor when sitting on it.:) I have to help Lacey up on it. Big mistake on my part I know but, she gives her little whine and I give in.
She sleeps on hubby's side. She's very comfy. My sheets are in the wash as we speak because hubby is on his way home. Didn't think he'd like sleeping in dog hair.

Boxer bed!!

We have the same situation!! As a puppy our first boxer was adorable to sleep with and it also helped me know when he had to go out in the night...but now he is a HORSE!! And since we have added another boxer to our family, there is no room for anyone in the bed but the two dogs!! Though I wouldn't give up waking to my baby on my pillow nose-to-nose with me, I do miss sprawling out in my bed at night, or even cuddling with my partner!! Good luck in breaking the habit, it is a tough one!!

:p

I do, I do :D I got a great night sleep in it last night. It is so tall though. Baxter can't even attempt to get on it. I put him on it but then was afraid he would hurt himself trying to get down. I guess it won't kill him to sleep on his own mattress :( Am I the only one who feels guilty about making their dog sleep on it's own bed

Do you think Baxter could learn to use steps or a ramp, or would that be too hard for him since he wouldn't be able to see where it is? Of course if you really felt guilty, you could get rid of the bed frame and just put the mattress on the floor! :D

Austin slept on my bed for about a year, in doing the NILIF program ( so he is not allowed on sofa or bed uninvited) So I got him a big beautiful doggie bed, fur lined, monogramed, furry pillows included and put it on the back side of my bed.

2 months later.....Austin will only stay on my bed maybe 10-15 min AFTER being invited ..and then he hops down in his bed on his own....If I call him back he will just roll his eyes at me..or let out one of those boxer sighs...like telling me to just go to sleep mom....I'm tired. Now morning , especially weekends, I do find him towering over me , with a big sloppy goodmoring kiss, or trying to dig me out from under the covers if I have my head covered up with the covers. (He doesnt like it when he cant see my face for some reason. ) Does your dog get upset when your face is not in view? Try it and let me know if this is a boxer trait or if I just have a weird kid.

Last night I put Baxter in the bed with me. He stayed there all night and didn't attempt to get down (thank goodness) :D He normally doesn't budge to get out of bed until he hears his breakfast hit the bowl but one can never be too careful. Jason and I did talk about getting rid of the frame and putting the mattress on the floor but it would still be very tall--this bed comes to the top of my legs(the mattress and boxsprings are the same size)! He brought it up but followed it by saying that Baxter would be just fine on his own bed and that really I am more upset by it than Baxter  I did see a set of cushy steps in the fosters and smith catalog the other day---sounds like a great Christmas gift if you ask me :p

king sized bed...still a problem!

My husband and I have a king sized bed and this still does not give us enough of room with Hurricane insisting on sleeping right in the middle between us! We started letting him in bed when he was a pup (our fault, but how can you resist adorable boxer puppies??) Hurricane rushes to bed when he sees us getting ready and waits until we are settled in. Then he plops his body right in the middle of the two of us and eventually uses his paws to push my hubby right to the end of the bed - what can I say, he is a mama's boy!:D Hurricane takes up most of the covers and most of the king size bed - he just stretches all out! So all I can say is good luck!

We had this problem, too! We had a king-size bed and Cheyenne slept on her daddy's side. Well, as you can imagine, I was the one falling off the bed (twice) and trying to shove my husband over in the middle of the night for room! And, of course, he didn't see any problem (he wasn't the one falling off the bed either!smashicon )

Our problem was solved when we bought new bedroom furniture - new king-size bed, new mattress. The bed was much higher up than our old one and she doesn't like to jump. So we agreed that she wouldn't sleep on the new bed anymore.

Unfortunately, she's learned that, but our new rescue hasn't!:D I keep them in the bedroom in the morning when I get a shower (otherwise they get into mischief) and 9 out of 10 mornings, Winston's in our bed when I get out!! (He gets off after I tell him to!) On the 10th morning, I hear him hit the floor when I turn off the water!!

Silly puppies!

Well, Tucker started out as a puppy sleeping in bed, and it has never quite stopped. He was doing good sleeping on the floor in the bedroom or sleeping on the couch in the living room when we made him and only got into bed in the morning when we weren't ready to take him out and wanted another hour of sleep.

However, during farming season when no one was around a lot, he showed that he was wanting attention (in other words, destroying things), so he was allowed back in bed so he felt loved. ;) He does what all the others mentioned....will take up half the bed--it's only a full size! Tucker is used to having 1/2 the bed w/his daddy (we're not married and I only stay there some nights), so when I'm there, I'm the one getting squished up against the wall or laid on (by the dog)smashicon The bed situation is always interesting! Good luck catching your Zs! sleepicon

dkay - head under sheets

dkay - I dont think that you have a wierd baby. My Bella pushes her head under the duvet right next to mine so that she can see me, but as she does this she does Boxer sneezes, which is not too nice first thing in the morning. :p
The other day I woke on my back with the duvet up to my neck and Bella was pinning me down so I couldn't move! She then started to play grow to get me to get up. I wouldn't have minded but it was 6:30am on a Sunday morning:rolleyes: . The little bugger!
I dont think that getting a higher bed would work as Bella seems to be able to levitate off the ground on to our bed without bending her knees! She can also jump as high as my face and I am 5'11"! (She's only 10mths)
