IN Bed!

WE have two boxers and a king size pillow top mattress. At first this was great..partyicon But then they started getting used to it and guess what? I am back sleeping in the edge with Hubby complaining about them pushing him off the bed! I have seen hubby move to the couch! But there they are Xena and Xanadu stretched out in all their glory!:D At least the couch is comfy!!:p

Comfy couches are a must when you let your furbaby sleep in bed! That probably wouldn't work at my house though, Cassius would just follow me out and hog the couch... I mean cuddle with me:rolleyes:

The couch

Sorry.. I meant to tell you I dont go to the couch and neither do the dogs..just hubby!:p
The dogs and I all lift our heads and watch him leave ..;) and then we go back to sleep!:p
I figure if I can sleep on the edge he can give and inch or a foot or two!
:p

We finally just gave up - Myah sleeps with us every night now. I feel sorry for her fur brother Tyson, as he is only allowed in bed on weekend mornings. But my consolation to myself is he's 110 pounds and has lots of fur. She gets cold - well that's my excuse to the husband anyway.

It started out innocently enough - she was so small and cute when we got her, she fit right in under my neck and slept there all night. Now - miss legs stretches and kicks. But trying to get her out of bed is impossible - she'll go sack of potatoes on us, turn on her back so we can't roll her. It's pretty funny.

Good luck to anyone who can make them sleep in the doggy beds - Myah ate hers.......:D

This is exactly my Zoe

I am having the same problems with my girl. We first made the mistake of letting her sleep with us when she was young and NOW I can barely get any sleep becasue my dog starts off at my feet and thats ok, but sometime in the middle of the night she squirms in between us and pushes me out the bed. She lays on her side and stretches her legs so that they are very stiff And Ill try and move her and she is like dead weight. I often roll over and get a foot in the eye. Also I often wake up half way off the bed. My husband and I are in a double bed and this is for the birds!! Is there any way I can break her from sleeping with us? I tried the crate thing and she barked all night. Should I just get a bigger bed or what????:(

Scrapper's Mom

King-sized beds do help! Scrapper doesn't sleep with us at night, because we keep our bedroom door closed. But if we accidentally leave it open, he detects it immediately and comes in. Scrapper's time on the bed is in the AM, after he has scratched at the door to let us know he has to go potty. Then he snuzzles up for a good 2 or 3 hours more of sleeping between us. Then I end up on the edge of our "huge" king-size bed, with 6 inches to myself, fighting to keep from rolling off. I swear, they are so dense, they are like lead weights when they are sleeping. Good luck trying to move them!

They do need to be covered in the winter, though, they are susceptible to cold because they have such thin fur. Sleeping with you keeps them warmer. I also have a blanket/cover for Scrapper to wear on our walks during cold weather.

Ozzy and Ryker have their own double bed! I couldn't stand all the farting and snoring. When we went to the boxer bash last week we stayed in a motel and got two double beds. Hubby had one and I shared with Ozzy, OMG what a night! snoring, I had to keep getting up and pulling him over to the side and as soon as I got back into bed he would just snuggle up again! I couldn't move. No not here, he has to have his own bed. (the reason hubby and I each take a double is because we are so used to sleeping in a king size at home we need room).

changing sleep habits

After reading all the posts about the boxer bed hogs, I just had to post. My boxer, Roxy, started out sleeping on top of my legs or feet cause she had to be as close as possible! In my attempts to have some freedom, I would end up on the edge of the bed freezing without covers....This just had to stop.

I put an extra blanket on the bed and Roxy decided that it was HER blanket and started sleeping on top of the blanket! On cold nights, I cover her and get her all snuggly warm. She would still creep towards me and sleep on my legs or behind my knees in the middle of the night making it difficult for me to move.

Fast forward to present: I am now heavily pregnant and have spent the last few months getting up in the middle of the night multiple times. PLus, it takes lots of effort to roll over at night. I actually think that Roxy must have gotten tired of getting pushed around because she now stays on her blanket at teh end of the bed...and lifts her head to make sure that I am just going to the bathroom. After my husband leaves in the morning, she moves to his spot and snuggles me.....but then we both have space:)

Its so nice to have her at the end of the bed through the night, BUT i still get the snuggles in the morning....she is NOT a morning dog so I have to get up and get dressed before she gets herself out of bed.

Getting a Good Nights Sleep?

When we first had Jerry we kept him in his kennel, but Hubby liked to have him snuggle. Almost 3 yrs later and a new king size bed, I now tell every one I haven' t slept next to my husband in 3 yrs. Jerry likes to sleep between both of us, he sleeps under the covers butt up...(phewy at times), and then towards morning he gets on top of the covers and lies face up next to our noses breathing and doing his contented lick mouth movements . I have slept with little or no room or with little or no blankets. I get frustrated at times, but when I look at that beautiful contented face, I just want to kiss him to pieces. When you get a boxer you take an oath to forever give up your bed and lose your heart to that beautiful creature from God!
