Chelsea is 5 1/2 months old, she's being spayed next week, she has started to sit on Stryker when he lies down, she will completely get on top of him, stradle him and sit there, he doesn't seem to mind he's very laid back, but is this dominance or just a puppy thing. Should I leave her do it or should and get her off of him.

It's dominance but personally I let my 2 work it out on their own as long as nobody is getting hurt. My 14 month old is the dominant one between he and my 6 1/2 year old female for sure, but she's happy that way they worked it out and all is fine.

I think it's a dominance thing. Dozer tries to do that to Coco and she will push him off of her with her feet and then snip at him. He will usually leave her alone for awhile after that.

Definitely dominance. My Lily will stand over my pit girl, not growling or anything, just stand there like she's waiting for something. The pit just bites her legs and then they get to playing. Lily will back her but up and sit on my sharpei boy, and he just lays there as if its normal. But then again, Lily humps the pit girl, as the sharpei is humping her! Cracks me up! I wish they would figure out the pecking order and then fill me in!

My shepherd will do it to his sister when she has a toy he wants... he just sits himself down on her until she finally gives up the toy..I think he has realized that he has size over her and uses it to his advantage, a definite show of dominance.

Chelsea does that to us, if our legs are outstreched she will back her but up and sit on my legs. Why do they do the things they do? Wouldn't it be nice to be a dog for a day just to figure these things out.

Chief does this to Sam as well as his way of trying to show dominance. He has since he was a pup. Sam is pushing 5 years old and Chief is pushing two (both this month). They usually wrestle it out on their own. But.. as Sam's older, if he seems really tired, I'll make Chief move to avoid irritation.

Sitting on

My nearly 2 year old Female has always sat on top of my 4.5 year old boxer X male.
I always thought it was a boxer comfort thing. Most of the time he will let her - it is sooooo funny. Sometimes she will just sit on his back and look down at his face (waiting for a reaction - I think). Othertimes she will just plain lay on him. He doesnt mind most of the time Ahhhhhhh so sweet.
