Completely Boxer Crazy
This actually happened a month ago but I hadn't had time to get on here in a while. As some of you know I keep our friends skinbaby in the afternoon, he is now 8 1/2 months and my girls and he get along GREAT! Well my husband and I bought a new t.v. and had to have cable and internet guys come out to the house, so for a week we had 4 different guys come to the house to do work. Well, each time I had Jordan (skin baby) and of course the girls were there too. I put both of my girls in their kennels everytime the workers got here and everything went great, except with the last guy to come to the house. For some reason, Jordan was scared to death of him. I put the girls in their kennels like usual and went to sit Jordan down on the carpet to help the guy move some furniture. Jordan started screaming the minute I put him down and I mean top of his lungs screaming and huge tears running down his face (this kid never cries and never meets a stranger). So then the dogs start barking in their kennels. I pick up the baby and go calm the girls down. Everything is fine, except I am still holding the baby, and I try to put him down again. The same thing happens again except this time both girls start barking and growling very fiercely and I hear this banging noise. I pick the baby back up and check on the dogs & Buttercup is banging her head into her kennel door all the while showing her teeth and growling, she was determined to bust through the door and get to the living room where we were! I really think she thought this guy was hurting the baby and she was in attack mode because of it. I eventually calmed her down but EVERYTIME the guy walked by her cage she would growl at him.
I was really very torn on what to do, because obviously the baby and the dogs did NOT like or trust this man but I didn't neccesarily like the behavior either, I really think it just scared me. Buttercup has NEVER acted like that before so I really didn't do anything to discipline her or change the behavior b/c well if something would have happened or ever does happen I have NO PROBLEMS with her protecting her family. The guy seemed normal and nice and actually complimented on my girls before everything happened. He asked if they would attack him and I told him "Normally I would say no, but they really do not seem to like you, I'm sorry about that." He kind of gave a nervous smile and left.
The whole situation was just scary and after the man left Buttercup did not leave the baby's side for the rest of the afternoon. I really think she was just protecting him and after telling more and more people about it, I feel better about it each time. I mean this is a small town but we have our share of bad people too and he could have been one. And they do say dogs and kids have a sixth sense about these kind of things.
I am actually proud of her!
P.S. On another note, I uploaded some pictures to my gallery of my babies, their cousins, and Jordan. As of Saturday night, the 25th they are not up yet but should be in a couple of days or so.

I truly believe that if you give your babies the unconditional love and attention that they deserve that their instincts alone can turn into life saving returns. NTN no training needed
