Javier loved dogs so I know that he would be very happy to see your boy.
I saw Javi last Saturday just 5 days before he passed and he looked so amazing. He was up and running (much to the dismay of his very worried parents) and talking and playing. Since they stopped his meds, including his steriods, his swollen little body had gone back to looking normal and I got to appriciate how tall and skinny he was (his mom and dad are both over 6 feet). He gave me a big huge kiss and hug goodbye and that was the last memory I will have of him.
He deteriorated very quickly and on thursday morning the hospice said that they didn't think he had more than a couple of days left. I went over and took big brother Diego out while the parents stayed close to Javi and we bought him a new toy (the whole time Diego kept insisting that we get toys for Javier...he's an amazing brother) and we went and got some ice cream. By the time that we made it back home Javier had become even worse (I was told, I never saw or spoke with him or the parents) and they knew that he would not make it much longer. He died late that night.
It's terrible and tragic and extreamly unfair to have to lose a child, especially one as amazing as Javi. I am glad though, that it happened so quick in the end. He didn't have to be bed ridden or in pain for very long. His prayer service was last night and it was the hardest thing I've had to do. They took many BEAUTIFUL pictures and videos and it was a wonderful service, but his little body just didn't look right in the casket.
The funeral is at 2 so I need to go get ready. Thank you all for the wonderful thoughts and prayers. I know Javi has gone home because God needed someone to play catch with. He is an amazing, amazing boy.
