I've had dogs that were possessive about their food before, so when we got Roxie we made sure to mess with her food while she was eating to get her used to it. It's good not good to be possessive; if a little kid doesn't know any better he/she might loose a finger.

Georgie is not possessive at all,she actually waits her turn if our 6lb poodle is eating who is really possessive. Cute to see a 65lb dog sitting until the little one is finished.

From day one with Apollo, I have had him get used to people petting him and taking his food away. Now you could do whatever you want while he's eating and he doesn't care. My little one even goes in the bowl and hand feeds him..

Neither of my dogs care about people going near their food, I can take it away stick my hand in their bowl - it doesn't matter but Finnegan my male will not tolerate other dogs near his food so we feed him and Nessa seperately.

Scrapper is not possessive at all either. You can reach right under his nose and take anything. He just waits until you give it back. We puppysat a visiting Boxer baby a couple of times and Scrapper always let the baby have first choice at the bowl and with his toys as well. My hubby was amazed at his gentleness.

My other two dogs were entirely the opposite. They once got into a horrible fight over a leftover mac and cheese aluminum tray. I couldn't get them apart :(

Another thing Scrapper does - when you are playing, if you just touch your hand up against one of his teeth, he immediately releases the toy and stands back.

Boo isn't aggressive either. In fact she allows the puppy to take food right under her nose. I guess this is a good thing??

Having 2 young children when we got our first boxer we trained him to be used to his food being messed with. Now that we have a new pup both dogs eat together and ocasionaly out of the same dish witch is a good thing but makes it difficult to keep up on the pups foods intake. If the older one has a treat and the little one becomes bothersomew he will just take his treat and walk away.

Both of mine are fine about me messing with their food. Zack doesn't like Zoe anywhere near his precious chew bones, but he doesn't mind her near his bowl at all. It's nice not having to worry them being aggressive. Just the other day my nephew grabbed a bone right out of Zack's mouth, and Zack just looked at him like "uh, okay, I was going to chew on that, but nevermind"

Jackson (my 8 month old boxer) is not possesive over his food at all.

He is even happy to share it with the birds and other dogs.
