I'm so sorry for poor Bella:( If i were you i would be very careful with this woman and her dogs and maybe you have to change of direction at the next time, because some people are very irresponsible
At the park which we use to go,every morning we meet a woman with a female pitbull whice once or twice a month would attack some dog and then the owner would keep her on leash but after 3 or 4 days she is off leash again:( ...some people

Take care

Hugs to Bella

Poor baby! When you hand over the bill to this woman you might recommend that she take her dogs to obedience class or leave them in the house. Hope Belle gets over this quickly and sure hope you get reimbursed for all of this. Let us know what happens!!

Poor baby. I'm sending lots of healing vibes for her. Have you contacted Animal Control. They should be notified before this happens again next time it might even be a child.

I am so sorry that Belle had to endure such a trauma in her now happy life. Clyde too was attacked not once but twice by the same dog, both within a few weeks of each other. First time the dog was on a leash but the owner wasn't holding the other end ( kind of their way of getting around the leash law I guess) The second time, the dog litterally dragged it's owner to get at Clyde. His first attack he got away uninjured, but the second attack he received puncture wounds and scrapes. Like your Belle, he too was put on antibiotics and he did heal nicely. The unfortunate part was, they had two dogs and when the bigger one attacked the smaller one jumped in as well.

The second attack only proved to us this owner did not have control of his dog, and judging by his comments didn't give too hoots. We did call animal control, and animal control did deal with the situation. They never did pay for the vet bill, in fact they moved away about 2 months later. Their dog is listed as a biter with animal control, and yes AC does know where they moved to. I wouldn't hesitate to report this Helene. Not only are other dogs at risk, but what about a child? After the local area heard we had reported the incident, people approached us with their stories of these dogs, and yes we found out it wasn't uncommon for them to be aggressive towards humans.

Keep an eye on Belle and her reactions now to other dogs etc. Sometimes these incidents can cause issues with the dog that was attacked. Clyde has come through his ordeals just fine, with some excellent advice we were able to curb any issues Clyde may have exhibited.
Please give Belle a huge hug from us. We are sending healing vibes her way.

So sorry to hear about poor Belle! A similar thing happened to me and Scrapper the day after Christmas when a person "walking" (being pulled by is a better description) three dogs came by our yard. Luckily, all Scrapper got was a few scrapes to the side of his head, and he gave as good as he got, but the person just walked away without even saying a word with his uncontrollable dogs dragging him down the street!!

Hoping Belle recovers quick!

I am sorry to hear about your ordeal. I am glad that you and Belle are ok. I had a similar experiance w/ an extremely vicious pit bull. I asked the guy to please hold the dog while i walked Magic by and of couse he didnt, luckily Magic is extremely quick and got away from this dog, but the pit's owners thought it was funny. Needless to say he go a piece of my mind, and a town cop saw the whole thing, and called the dog warden. The dog is now listed as a first offender. :) Serves him right. But i would definaltey take Jean's advice and call Animal Control and report it.

Speedy recovery and best wishes from Magic to Belle.

Helene, I am so sorry that poor Belle got attacked. I would definitely present to dog owners with the bill. I would also report them as the next attack could be much worse next time and the dogs should have a history of aggressive behavior.

I and sending positive healing vibes to Belle.
