My girl was crated trained for the first 9 months. She is now 3 1/2 and has been crate free since.

I put Revan in the crate when i leave for work in the morning I come home at 12 and feed him and hang out with him for a bit. Then he is back in the crate until 3pm when my daughter comes home and he is out of the crate for the rest of the evening until we go to bed. He either sleeps on our bed or if he is restless we put him in the crate until he wakes up in the morning and we do the same routine over again. He is getting pretty used to it by now

I don't know what to vote--I have one "yes" and one "no"!

Gracie is free in the house. She's two years and eight months and is perfectly behaved in the house--doesn't chew anything that isn't hers, never has an accident.

Gus is eight months and is in the crate for a few hours a day when I am not home. He is free at night and whenever I am home. I wish I could leave him out of the crate to play with Gracie, but he's in the chewing phase and since he's new here, he's still a little confused about what is his to chew and what isn't his. Gus is a very good boy though--I only have to tell him "no" once or twice and he learns not to chew whatever it was that he was chewing, and he has never had an accident in the house. I am hoping that after a couple of months (or maybe less!) of supervision in the house when I am home, Gus will be ready to be home alone out of the crate with Gracie.

angelicon Blizzy was never crated. 100% trustworthy once housebroken.

Echo and Carson are crated for nighttime sleep and when we are not home. They are still confined to the kitchen and den (the 2 rooms the humans are in most anyway) as they are forever terrorizing the two cats..who were here first

Echo will pee in the kitchen the second the door is shut even if she JUST came in from peeing, so its in the crate so she won't.

I would (before two days ago) allow them to be out of the crate and confined to the kitchen and den IF we were only going to be gone for a bit. But after the other day..well its crate time EVERYTIME we are not in the house with them!!

In a matter of less than 15 minutes, the pups managed to destroy my love seat thats in the den! They ripped the guts out of the two cushions and ripped most of the fabric off what was left to the cushions..they also chewed a hole thats about the size of a cat in the bottom..so now springs are exposed!! I have to think it was Echo as she will chew anything, anytime, anywhere..no matter if you are looking right at her or not..

Snoopy is only crated during the day when we are at work and he isn't at doggie daycare. If we go out in the evening...it depends on his mood...if he is hyper then he gets crated but if he is pretty calm we will leave him out. We would love to not crate him but when he is home alone for a longer period of time he gets bored and when he gets bored he destroys things.

My two were only crated for house training when they were pups.
Mind you if they were destructive I would crate them still but luckily they're not.

Winston is crated only when we are at work. I'm hoping that he will be a trustworthy dog when he has matured because I would much prefer him to have the run of the house.

Zeke just turned two. He is crated only when we go out. The other day we went out for about 20 minutes. We left him out of the crate and he did just fine. Nothing destroyed. Next time I'll try 30 minutes.

Nope

Maya doesn't need her crate anymore. She's been excellent since we moved. The new place has all-glass doors on the front of the house so she can watch people walk by during the day. I think it keeps her from getting so bored that she tears things up.
