On the list of plants, where is says (bulb) next to the flower, ie Tulip (bulb) - does this mean that the actual flower is toxic to dogs or just the bulb? Just wondering as I am about to plant a ton of bulbs this fall and most are on the toxic list.

Onions, in large quantities or with continued feeding, can cause a type of anemia in dogs.
I wonder about grapes and raisins, as it is only recently that vets have taken note of their toxicity, if it isn't the pesticides rather than the fruit. i know that raisins and grapes are some of the most treated fruit, that is to say they have very high levels of chemicals on them. Not that I'm going to test my theory by giving my dogs organic raisins, I just wonder about it.

The information sign outside our local vet this week asks the question "Did you know that grapes and onions are poisonous to dogs?" I had no idea, and I'm still not sure why.

Wow! Grapes surprised me......Shadow used to ever so gently take a grape and savor each and every bite. He did that all of his life....he also REALLY liked chocolate...One time some friends of ours came to visit from California. She had a full package of candy bars in her suitcase and he found them....ate the whole thing - wrappers and all! Every time we had company, he would go through their suitcases just to see if someone had brought him more candy! I always worried, but when he did accidently get ahold of some, it never hurt him at all.
