Ok yall DH and I went to get Dakota tonight, the four year old brindle female rescue. We brought her home and she is doing terrific!! Her owners cried when we left with her, it broke my heart for them. I want to let them visit her anytime but would it be too soon to suggest it?

Good for you for giving her a good home :D

Maybe give it a week or two for her to settle in then ask. It will probably ease their minds if they see she is in a great home being loved to bits :)

Congrats on your new litttle girl! There is no harm in ringing them in a couple of days or a week to let them know she is OK etc and tell them they can visit.
Although I think people generally don't want to because they don't want to be reminded. And it may be confusing or distressing for the dog too.

Congrats on your new girl! You could also send them pictures of how happy she is in her new home. I send periodic pictures to the shelter where I got Hobie and they always email back and are thrilled to see how well he's doing. I'm sure in their hearts they know they've made the right decision and seeing how much you guys love her will help them get through the pain of having to give her up. Good luck!

I'm sure they'd like a call or an email with some pics every now and then seeing how well Dakota is doing in her new home. They should be happier to know that she is in a loving home and that she enjoys it there. Good Luck with her and can't wait to hear more about her soon.

Congratulations on you new little girl. Keep us posted on her progress.
I sort of broke the news to my husband tonight that I am thinking about adding to our family. He just looked at me, grinned and said we'll see. ;)

the owners surrendered her because they are never home and her life was pretty much confined to a crate. they had given her away before but brought her back because she was too bashful and wary of strangers. so far we havent seen any thing of the sort... so im curious as to why this was said. the minute we walked in last night she was so loving and gentle. shes a real love bug. this afternoon we were home alone (Dakota and I) and she heard a car door shut. she started growling and getting upset and when DH walked in the house she started kidney beaning. is it normal for her to be protective so soon?

I think it's very normal. May also be her own fear of being in a new place.

Congrads on getting her!!!
