Both of ours are rescues and we kept their names because we liked them. Oscar was only 3 months old when we adopted him and we were considering a new name for him but he just looked so much like Oscar so we kept the name. He was named for Oscar de la Hoya by his foster mom. Mali was named by her prior owner for Muhammed Ali and DBF was a fan of Ali's in the day, so we kept her name, too. I guess I like the boxer-related names, at least for mine.

Madison's Mom

Completely Boxer Crazy
My girl at the bridge got her name from the movie splash with Darryl Hannah. She just looked like a Madison.
Carson got his name because when he was a little tiny puppy he was bow legged when he stood. So I got to thinking, cowboy, old west, and thought of Carson City.....So Carson it was.
Cyia was named Roxie when I got her 4 days ago. She is dark brindle and her stripes look like someone poured Cheyanne pepper on her. So...Cyia was that name that my daughter choose.

Sablegirl

Super Boxer
Sable is a rescue that came with her name already and at the age of 3 we just decided to not rename her.

Therapy (our black lab waiting at the bridge) was named Therapy because my husband's doctor told him it would be good therapy for him to have a dog at home to be his companion (my husband was disabled at age 41 with chonic heart disease - hereditary)... her registered name was Thunder's Fireball Therapy. She really was a lifesaver for us and learned how to help my husband in ways I had never imagined.

Our kids picked Roxy it was either that or Dora the explorer LOL. As far as Monty goes I honestly don't remember why he was named that.

When we went to pick out our first boxer, our kids brought a friend. He said we should name the puppy Rocky. I pointed out that we were getting a female. He was stumped for only a second and said Roxi - and specified that it would be with an i.
We got our second boxer only a week after losing our Weimeraner. We were all heatbroken and decided to cheer ourselves up by visiting puppies. I know, big mistake....My son fell for the white male immediately. After much deliberation ( I flat out refused to call a dog Bullet), I suggested Harley. All agreed and he's the 'bestest' dog ever!

Dolly was the only female brindle in her litter and just a little doll when we met her at the breeders. Her registered name is Jericho's Living Doll. Dottie (Dot) was a severely abused 6 month old, when we adopted her, through our local animal shelter. She needed a name that was simple and light hearted after all the poor girl had gone through. I hope no-one is offended but I lovingly refer to the girls as The Boxer Broads.

I have Tucker for almost a week before he was named. Anything I liked, my son did not. One day while driving home I was amongst many many semi's and out loud I said 'trucker'. I immediately thought that was not so good but then Tucker came to mind and I thought about Friar Tuck from Robin Hood and thought with my pups fat little belly, Tucker would be good. When I got home, I told my son the new name and he was freaked because he also picked that name. He was watching the puppy playing and when the puppy was tired, he just droppped where he was and fell asleep. My son thought he must be tuckered out, hence Tucker. With the both of us picking the same name, it had to be!!! Tucker also answers to 'little man".

I also struggled with Libby's name. My vet suggested being Libby was all white, to name her after something about snow or winter. She told me to look on the internet for ski resorts. I found one ski resort in PA call Ski Liberty. I loved the name Liberty as part of her registered name because so many white boxers are destroyed at birth and Libby was freed. I shortened Liberty to Libby for her every day name but she also answers to 'baby girl'.

Minx - full name; Minx's Sweet Mischief, because she is sweet and full of mischief.
Blaze - full name; Rebel Blaze he was named so because he had a little white blaze on the back of his neck like someone took a little white-out and painted it there. We got the Rebel part because of the man we bought him from, he was a good ol' southern boy.

Bruno was named by my dh - it just fit him even as such a small puppy!

I can't remember exactly how we came up w/ Tori, but dh liked it because of a WWE Diva named Tori Wilson, so it stuck.

Mikey is named after Michael Waltrip, my favorite NASCAR driver.

Buffy is named after MW's wife in real life.

Poin Dexter aka....nerd, geek, whimp, weakling, dork....

The thought process was to name him a geeky name so when you're at the park people look to find a little dorky dog and here comes this Muscle bound, masculine, gorgeous creature that will whip up on your @$$ (if being licked to death counts) when messed with...or at least appear it!

Sir Dexter of Chaos - Fathered by Chaos in Oklahoma aka Dexter, Dex, Dexie, and he answers to Baby Boy when his Mommy calls him!

Cali - California Haven Jones aka....puppy, devil, gawd damn it, little biaatch, stain, or ADHD dog!

California because we all had a great time in disneyland and that's where grandpa lives. Haven was my grandfathers middle name.

Stanley and Linkin are up there as 2 favs as well.
