I am deeply sorry for your loss. I haven't visited this website in a while and yet today I haven't been able to log off. I read every post within this thread. It gave me both heartache and joy to read this journey. Jose was a warrior! Be happy knowing that she touched so many people throughout this difficult time. And know that she's playing freely at the Rainbow Bridge. My thoughts are with you. Ty is also sending slobbery kisses your way!!!!

I'm back...Brian and I decided to spend most of the weekend over at his parent's house with his brother and sister-n-law and they still don't have the internet hooked up at the new house so I missed you all dearly. To say this weekend was a hard one would be a massive understatement, but we made it. My eyes are still the size of golf balls and I can't stop thinking and uncontrollably crying over her passing. Nothing seems right without her and I am still having trouble grasping the reality that she is never coming back home. Brian and I came back home late last night to sleep and had a package waiting at our door...it was from the animal hospital. Inside was a plastered paw print of Josi and a beautiful book. Not only was Josi's name on the paw print, but you can feel the divets in her pads, see her recently cut nails, and ofcourse there are pieces of her hair in it...I just love it and think it was an amazing gesture. The book titled "'Dog Heaven" was filled with hand written letters on the pages from the oncologist who cared for her, one of the front desk girl's who has been there for us since Josi's first visit about four years ago for her first TPLO and many of the nurses and techs who helped treat Josi throughout the years. I am touched beyond words. I have to tell you that after we read through the book last night and settled in late to bed, I asked Brian do you think Josi misses us up there and he responded of course...well about five minutes later with the lights out and only the tv on, a firefly "lightening bug" was flying and lighting up right before our very eyes in front of the tv. Now let me remind you that we hadn't been home in almost two days and with Josi gone there has been no coming and going from the outside to inside besides the fact that we haven't seen the bugs at all this summer. Anyhow we took this as a sign that she was telling us she did miss us. I told Brian he better get it and let it outside before it dies, but it went black. A few minutes later it light up again on top of the blankets on the bed where she slept between us every night. I peacefully went to sleep after this and almost forgot about it until we were getting ready to leave this morning to go back to his parents house when the firefly was sitting on the door that leads to the garage...it was as if Josi was ready to go with us. We made sure to let it outside to go free and I will carry this memory with me as well. Besides that not much has changed for us around the house...still sleeping downstairs, water still in her bowl, beds out, etc. and I take comfort in her surroundings and will continue to surround myself in her presence. My mother in law gave me a great idea to display many of Josi's collars in an artistic way in a shadow box and put it up on the wall which I'm interested in doing. I did not have an opportunity to download any pictures this weekend since I wasn't home, but I think I can get Brian to do a few for me soon and I promise I will upload. Thank you for the continued hugs and prayers and always checking in on us...I know I will never get over Josi's passing, but with your help and support I will learn to accept it with the grace and dignity that Josi lived her life with and I owe that to my Warrior Princess.

I just read your thread, and I am at a loss for words. What you wrote was so spiritual and heart felt, I cried through the whole thing. What a wonderful support system you had in your oncologist and staff. And the whole fire fly thing was truly a message from Ms. Jose. Believe it and trust in it. You, Brian and Ms Jose have truly been an inspiration for all of us who took the journey with you through your wonderful words. Stay strong. Ms Jose will stay with all of us forever.

How thoughtful of the medical staff to be so caring - that was beautiful. I think that Josi was letting you know she is ok. I believe you have been touched by your little angelicon. Continued prayer and good thoughts coming you way......

I too believe that Ms Josi was telling you she is fine and that was her sign to you from her. That was very thoughtful of the staff to send the paw print and book. Josi touched their lives too. She will long be remembered by everyone that heard her story.
