Completely Boxer Crazy
Josi seems to have take a turn for the worse:(
Please say your prayers for Josi this evening...Josi woke up this morning with white gums and weakness. It was almost like the morning her spleen ruptured, but not as weak. We rushed her to the vet knowing good and well there was nothing they could really do for her. Her red blood count had dropped to 35 from 46 last month, but he said it was nothing like when she was 10. Her temperature was down and she was cold, but still very alert. They ran a liver panel to see if any of her levels were off so they could maybe conclude a bleed off the liver, but all looked normal. It is probably bleeding off her heart which is to be expected with hemangiosarcoma but no way to fully know without the ultrasound. Due to the fact that there is no treatment for their findings, Brian and I opted to bring her back home in her comforts. We could not bare to put her back in ICU all alone with only the ability to see her twice daily. I would put her back in there if there was even an 1% chance that they could do something for her, but with no hope home is where she belongs. As usual Josi spirits are still so strong still eating drinking and wanting to move around, but she just doesn't have the strength. Her gums go pale very quickly after exerting any energy so instead she is getting waited on hand in foot surrounded by her mommy and daddy. Our local vet gave us his home and cell number incase her condition changes or she shows signs of discomfort or pain. At that point you all know what we will have to do next and as much as I knew this time was coming sooner than later, I can't believe it could be anytime. I hope that we will have the courage and strength that others of you have had before us....Josi says to tell all your boxers that she loves them all and will never forget the love and prayers each and everyone gave to her...
