Bad news...
Well I just got back from my visit with Diamond. I was there about 45 minutes. When I walked in I saw they had a collar on her and IVs in her front legs. I asked them what was going on and they didn't answer me, the dr wasn't there they said they would call him. She was acting okay, a little out of it...but happy to see me. After a few minutes we took the collar off because I wanted to kiss her face. Then the dr called...her kidneys had started shutting down so he put her on the IV fluids and some type of dialysis to try to push out all the creatinine that had backed up and to get her hematocrit back up because her plasma levels were low. He told me that I can come see her in the morning at 9 again and I thanked him. I went back into Diamond's cage and she had started acting funny. I know from nursing that in people they start acting confused and anxious when there are kidney problems so I told the girl that she was acting weird. She calmed down a little bit but would start back up again and start panting heavily. A few minutes later a cat walked by and she smelled it but couldn't see it...it was only about 5 feet away from her so maybe I was wrong this morning about her seeing me!? They kicked me out of there a little bit after that so they could take her out to potty. She had already had 1000cc's of IV fluids before I got there and they had started her another bag. I asked if there is someone there all night, they said until 9 pm and the next person comes in at 6 am, so hopefully if something happens it happens before 9 tonight. Anyway, just wanted to give you guys an update, sorry it's not a good one. Please continue to keep us in your prayers and I will keep the updates coming.
Also, the question about how my door handles are, they are pull up...I think maybe one of us opened the car door to get something out and maybe she jumped in as our back was turned!? However, none of us remember going to the car and actually opening the doors, besides the trunk...I know she couldn't have gotten in that way. That is really the only reasonable explanation that I can figure out, knowing that no one in my family put her in there intentionally.
Thanks again,
Lexie and Diamond
