I agree with everyone here, my vet told me over a year ago that Ibuprofen was highly toxic to animals. I would be very concerned about even the two or three that he swallowed. Are you absolutely sure it was just two or three, I don't want to alarm you but it could have been more. Sending positive, healing vibes to Jackson and sending you ((((hugs)))) to give you the strength to get through this.

JACKSON IS BETTER!!! (Thank GOD!) :)

Thank you SO MUCH to everyone who posted such insightful and encouraging comments... It turns out that my boy had a couple things working against his favor... #1, and what I was most concerned about, was the Advil. He did have several small ulcerations w/i his stomach and esophagus (vet did a scope to look down into there) which I presume was the cause of the vomiting. The vet treated him with several IV meds to calm his stomach, as well as fluids to rehydrate him. (His bloodwork all tested OK though...) The vet also did xrays which revealed a major intestinal blockage that he finally passed (thank GOD!!!!) w/o any need for surgery... It was ROPE- I have absolutely no idea where he got that and when, becuase I watch him like a HAWK... I suppose this is a good lesson for me especially, but everyone really, that your house can NEVER be doggie-proofed enough... and the yard for that matter...

Anyway, by yesterday afternoon he was back to his lovable, energetic, happy self!!

Thanks again for all your thoughts and kind wishes... I'll post some pics ASAP!

It's great to hear Jackson is OK. It sounds as if you and he have been through quite a lot the past few days!

I was quite honestly very concerned about the ibuprofen ingestion. I am surprised the emergency vet did not seem concerned about it, as I had read ibuprofen can be toxic to dogs. That said, it obviously wasn't toxic to Jackson (other than causing ulcerations).

A woman in our new obdience class said her dog ingested a sting from a towel and had $3000 surgery to have it removed. Talk about insane! Thank gosh Jackson passed the "rope" on his own...
