Oh, Wendy!! I was praying the outcome would be different. But at least you now know what is going on. I agree with Wanda, don't give up on her - she may or may not have long, but try not to be sad - she doesn't want you to be sad. She knows you love her and are doing everything you can for her. Out of curiosity, did the vet give a name to this liver failure, what with the liver so small? Many years ago when I was a child, my best friend and her family lost a 2 year old dalmation. An autopsy showed Max 's liver had nearly "dissolved". Another neighbor lost a dal to the same thing a couple of months later. It's been so long ago, and it's possible these two dogs were from the same litter, so it could have been genetic. Whatever, the results of the autopsies were strange.

I am sooo sorry for your Casey.. As everyone else, I was hoping for some good news.. At this point.. it sounds like your doing everything you can.
Love her and enjoy her, and be happy that she's with you now.. They're so sensative to our emotions. I lost my most precious Tuffy this past June. Everyone told me that HE would let me know when it was time.. and he did.
I cherish those last days I was able to pamper him. Actually, once I made my mind up to NOT be so sad, his spirit picked up too...and he was around longer than I expected...
I wish you peace and loving times w/ your precious Casey..

I am so sorry to hear that your news wasn't good. I was hoping it was some strange fluke that could be easily solved. My mother once told me that when you get a dog you are setting yourself up for a heartbreak. I never knew how true that was until my german died a few years ago. My heart breaks for you.

Wendy, I am so sorry to hear your bad news. I have been checking often to your thread for an update as you and Casey have been on my mind. I suppose there is something to be said for now knowing what you are dealing with. Especially that there is a way for you to help her even if it's only to help her be comfortable in the time she has left with you. It's so very scary to see these aweful symptoms and have no idea what is going on. At least now you know and can make her comfortable.

You're doing the right thing by spoiling her in while you have her!! I'm sure you will know when the time comes for a decision, but for now enjoy her!!

Wendy, I am truly sorry you are going through this. I know it sucks. As everyone else has mentioned, enjoy every minute you can. We lost our Kayla on 9/8 to kidney failure. In a way I think we were lucky to have known that the end was coming and we had time to appreciate every extra day we had with her. It didn't make it hurt any less when the end came, but at least we realized that every day with her was a gift and made the most of it...cuddling her more, etc. As Wanda mentioned, take lots of pics...I wish I had taken more.
