I know we here at boxerworld are focused on well, boxers, lol, but i'm sure many of us have other animals and breeds we love as well. One that I love quite a lot is the pit bull. They're so misunderstood and really can make wonderful pets. There's this petition going around for FOX news to have a story on the truth about the pit bull and how they're reputation is undeserved. Signing only takes a second, and this could really help out pit bulls everywhere. if you agree that they aren't killers please sign! and please encourage anyone you know to sign! here's the link--http://www.petitionspot.com/petitions/PitBullAwareness (copy and paste)

If you think that pitbulls are infact vicious, or aren't quite sure, please just take a look at this short video, http://www.deviantart.com/view/11454716/ it's quite the eye opener to those who think they are vicious killing machines. Please help save these poor dogs!

You know i've done lots of research on them..and you know what i've realized besides that they're misunderstood and actually wonderful dogs? that they are A LOT like BOXERS! they're usually big goofballs who love to play and cuddle, they're real loving and wonderful with kids and people in general. So please help them!

I voted and signed the petition. The public NEEDS to learn the TRUTH about this breed. Raised properly and treated nice they are the most loving, loyal dog !

I have only known one pit in my life and was friendly with it. Dog sat for him for 10 days. He attacked my 3 weeks later and I required 53 stitches to close all the wounds on my legs and buttocks. It was the scariest thing in my life. I will never understand how a dog that I liked and played with could turn and attack me with the intent to kill. I have incredibly mixed feelings on this issue. I am positive that there are some wonderful pits out there but I absoluty cannot get past my fear of them.

I know several pits that are very nice dogs. However, unfortunatly, I would not consider getting one, not because of the dog breed, but because I have to consider things like getting home owners insurance, etc... I think it is ashame that these dogs have gotten such a bad rap. They can be such nice dogs, when socialized, trained, and treated properly. I think they do need more work on socialization etc.. than some other breeds, but that does not mean that they are evil dogs. Another thing that I often wonder about is, how many of the dog bites that are labeled as "pit-bull attacks" are actualy bites by pits. I have had several people think that my dog is a pit. My dog, in my opinion looks nothing like a pit (she is a shelter dog, but looks like a boxer to me). Most people would not be able to tell a pit from many other breeds of dogs. Boxers, mastiffs, bull dogs all get mistaken for pits by people that think of a pit as no more than a big scarry dog. People often see a big mix breed and just assume that it has pit in it.

I would say that there are two different types of Pit Bulls, the type that are raised properly by loving pet owners and then the type that are negleted of proper training and love. My boxer was attacked by a Pit Bull once and I ended up getting bite by the Pit Bull on my leg by trying to get the dog off of mine. This dog knew me and my dog very well, yet still was very aggresive towards the both of us. Personally, to be honest, I am still scared of Pit Bulls even if they are trained.

Pittbulls can be fabulous pets and any breed can be turned into a monster, though when treated improperly pittbulls can do more damage than say a pekinese. If fox news ran a truthfull piece on Pitts it may just be the first honest piece of news they have ever reported.

This happened to my husband. Our girl was attacked by a pit that was relentless. When my husband picked up our dog, the pit bit my husband too. I believe that yes, a pit can be nice and a great family dog, but the reality is that many people that are attracted to this breed are attracted to them for all the wrong reasons. Unfortunately these people are ruining the breed.

My heart breaks for this breed, people have abused these dogs not only by fighting, but also by breeding. Pits can be very sweet & family oriented dogs if you are lucky enough to find a reputable breeder, so many have been inbred & when this keeps happening you will get a vicious dog. This is sad, what humans are capable of doing, don't destroy the Pits, but the people that do these cruel things to them. Its like putting a loaded gun in an infants hand, with the breeding & fighting of these dogs!
