People think my sweet baby is a Pit Bull

I am so tired of people telling me my Boxer mix is a Pit Bull even though I tell them she is a Boxer/Lab mix!

Also they react so fearful of her when she is trying to be friendly and mothers grab their children and tell them to not get near the PIT Bull.

How do you handle this without getting irritated after a while. Now I have nothing against Pit Bulls and I think they get a bad rap in the press but this gets on my nerves.

Any funny comebacks or educational things i can say?

I have a brindle boxer and i have had plenty of people call him a pit bull.

Just start telling them she's a rotweiller, pit bull, german shephard and chow mix!!! A mix of the 4 "most dangerous" dogs should get them running. They probably won't say anything else at all. They'll just leave a puddle of piddle behind.

you know what,i have a Brindle and since all these pit bull attacks in toronto everyone thinks Budha is one as well,i say if they think its a pit...they need to open a book and check themselfs,chin up..p.s..boxers are way cuter then pitts so...

We lived in a complex where pits were very popular and everyone was always telling me what a beautiful Pit Shilo was. And it drove me nuts because all these people were breeding their pits and they had no clue she was a Boxer.

We get this all the time too. My two are white so I get alot of are those pits or american bull dogs. I am slowly learning to just tell people what they are and answer their questions nicely and go on about my day.

Just at the dog park with my babie brandy just to have fun. The first 45min. were great 4 other dogs so much fun all the balls you could think of. The play was great tell Mr. & Mrs. noall showed up, with there dog after 5min. Brandy the my boxer was thinking well lets box. Then Mrs.right said I didn't think pit bull were aloud. I had to say well brandy is a boxer, as she was still trying to get someone to box. you all know just play. I was mad so we just went home
but we will go back cuz not people are that way. but why do some think boxers are pit bulls. I hate it

I have this problem too, but I really can't tell you how to deal with it. When I take my babies out, people are always afraid to let their children near Tucker, but they are quick to allow them to pet Rosie. (Tuck is my boxer, and Rosie is the Pit mix - but she looks more like a Beagle.) When the kids try to pet Tuck, the parents always stop them with the same old "you can't trust a Pit" or "don't pet the Pit." It's just perfect when I get to inform ignorant parents that their child is already petting the Pit of the two and that my Boxer is not a problem.

I also keep a picture of my actual Pit (my ex got him when we divorced) in my car so that I can show people the difference between the two breeds.

I got this one in the pet store the other day. Albert is white and some woman asked me what he was. I told her "All Boxer" and I knew what was coming next :rolleyes:, "Wow, he looks like a Pit - real scary"

Sometimes, you just can't do anything but smile and walk away. Some people are ignorant and you can't change that.
