Yesterday, my friend and I drove to Maine to get Echo fiesticon and we decided to make a stop at the rest stop for some coffee..stretch our legs and give Echo a potty break. I had the hatch of my truck open to gt her out of the crate. Two guys walked by and onecommented "awww look at the baby pitt bull he's gorgeous!" I spun around and nicely said "no, actually SHE isn't a pitt, she's a boxer" The guy comes closer and said, I KNOW pitts and thats a pitt if I ever saw one! So I smiled again and said, um, really, she's 100% pure Boxer. He said did you buy her from a breeder and I answered yes, his reply was well sweetheart, YOU really should have done your homework on what Boxers look like so you'd know when you were getting a boxer or a pitt. That, sweetie, is a pitt" GRRRRRR. I wasn't fast enough to grab her AKC registration paperwork or the contract I had for her..damn damn damn..I cannot believe some people.

I have NOTHING against pitts at all. But for goodness sake, Pitts and BOxers do not look alike. People amaze me. I would have been ok with is that a pitt..or is she a pitt..or anything like that some people just don't know what some breeds look like so they make a mistake but to tell me what my baby is baffles me.

Just imagine what that moron's wife or girlfriend has to deal with! What a donkey...

I figure since most mistake WHITE boxers as pits and your lad knew Carson was boxer, the fawn looks nothing like a pit.

How ridiculous! From what I can tell, Echo looks to be the epitomy of a boxer puppy - in fact she looks gorgeous! I don't know a lot about pits, don't see all that many in Aus (they have a bad rep) and from what I know it takes a lot of paper work to be able to own one. I wouldn't worry too much about what the guy says, he obviously has no clue. How arrogant though to try and make out that it is you who doesn't know what you're talking about! I like others suggestions about what to say (if you think fast enough ) - especially the one about the overgrown poodle!

Couldn't agree more!! I get that all the time about Koa & we have even gotten that comment for dh dog who is a boxer/sheperd mix. :rolleyes:
