Peeing the bed!

Maggie and I currently live with my mom and her 2 small dogs. Recently, Maggie has started peeing on my mom's bed (this has happened probably 4-5 times over the last 2 months). At first we thought she smelled the little dogs on there and was claiming the territory because she wasn't being watched, but the last couple times Maggie has jumped up there and squatted and peed before we could even tell her off. She is house trained as well as paper trained as my mom uses potty pads for her little girls. She doesn't do this to my bed or to her bed, just my mom's. Any idea what could be going on and how we can fix this??

Keep the door to the bedroom (mom's - where she's doing it) closed and keep Maggie out of the room. Find sometimes if they get into a bad habbit, preventing it from happening now is enough to stop it from happening again in the future. I would keep the door closed and Maggie out for a few weeks or more before trying to let her back in.

Simple and best solution! I would also spray that mattress with an enzyme cleaner just to rid it of the scent of urine. Don't want her to smell it months from now and start back up again.

Dogs sometimes will mark inanimate objects as if to claim them as their own. Beds seem to be a common object. I temporarily re-homed one of my dogs. The first night at his new home, a buddy came with his dog. this other dog has been in the house many times. Never an issue. Never marked anything. Well, within an hour in the house, the visiting dog went up and peed on the new owners bed. Why? I can only guess he was "marking" the one thing that smells most of the new owner and wanted my dog to get that "he was there first!" lol Closed the door from then on and it never happened again and they were frequent play buddies. The second visit though, my dog made darn sure that the visiting dog knew it was his house now! He claimed his couch, his chair, his deck, his water bowl, and his new owner! LOL A shame it didn't work out for him and he is now permanently back in my home and with his pack - bottom tier of the totem pole again.

The only issue with keeping her out is... keeping her out of trouble when unsupervised! She stays home with my mom during the day while I'm at work, and sometimes my mom needs to go in her room for one reason or another, and leaving Maggie unsupervised can be disastrous right now! The enzyme cleaner is a good idea, as it seems to be in the same spot. Are there any laundry enzyme cleaners you can recommend? Mom is know keeping her by her side when she's in there, but the trying to claim her territory thing makes sense, as the two little dogs are older and Maggie is definitely giving them a run for their money as head of the pack!!

Thanks!

On my bed, and the dogs beds when "marked", I use Natures Miracle and spray thoroughly. Then when that dries in a day, I will saturate with white vinegar so it seeps down through the padding underneath and will get any left over residual odor. Overkill maybe but I always over do things. I will lay a towel on top of the wet area until dry. I don't like sleeping in wet spots! LOL
