Peeing in the Garage

When I'm either at my girlfriends or my sisters house I keep Tyson in the garage with his toys and bed. They don't like him in the house (he can be a pain sometimes). I know its just because he loves being around people but I still have to respect other people's wishes. While he is fully house broken, for some reason he will pee in the garage. And its not because he can't hold it....a lot of times he'll do it 2-3 hours after he already releived himself. Does he not equate being inside the garage to being inside the house? Or is he trying to get back at me for leaving him in there alone?

Dogs don't do things to get back at us. Humans are the only ones that think like that. There could be a number of reasons why this is happening. Just because he went 2-3 hours prior doesn't mean that he doesn't have to go again (obviously since he is going). Another reason could be the fact that he is excited by different surroundings or the fact that he can hear whats going on in the house and can't be a part of the fun.

I understand all too well about how excited boxers can be but he is never going to learn how to control that excitement unless he is given a chance to learn. I know that you have to abide by the homeowners rules but I would either not go or leave him at home.

My dad doesn't have any pets and doesn't care for animals in the house. When Cami came into our lives I asked if she could visit him (2 hours away) during a family dinner and he allowed that. She was WILD in the new-fun place but calmed down within 30 minutes and was fine for the remainder of the day. Now everytime we go he asks for her to come. She behaves well and is familiar with the house now. She is still the typical hyper boxer but does listen well and understands what she can mess with and what she can't. She does have a slight problem with my step-mother's stuffed swan that sits on their bed, but it's pretty much a standing joke now that the first thing Cami does is go for the swan!

Good-Luck!

first off, dogs don't do things out of spite or revenge. he's not peeing in the garage to get back at you.
also, 2-3 hours without peeing is not really a long time and doesn't mean that he does not have to go again. there are lots of factors that can lead to this. one can be if he has had lots of water to drink right before being placed in the garage. another might be if he is being played with before being placed in the garage and not being given the last opportunity to relieve himself right before. he might not also be used to being in new surroundings. just because a dog is housebroken at YOUR home does not mean that he is automatically housebroken to EVERY home. he might have to be taught what to do when he has to go out and he is in the garage.
also, a garage is not the best place to leave a dog unattended. could you place him in the garage but at least in a crate or kennel? there are a lot of things in a garage that a dog can get into that can cause him harm or even death. all it takes is a few drops of antifreeze to kill a full grown dog. and dogs love the taste of antifreeze because to them it has a very sweet smell and taste. just some things to keep in mind.
