peanut butter and kong

I'm not sure if this is the right thread or not...but I am wondering if anyone has ever had a problem with their dog not getting all the peanut butter out of the kong and the peanut butter going bad. Just curious about the end with the smaller opening. Thanks.

I put a dab on the small end,fill it with kibble and seal it with a larger dab of peanut butter and stick it in the freezer.. The Kongs should be washed after each use.

Yes - I have the big black kongs and there is always a little bit left at the bottom near the smaller hole. If you slam the larger opening down on a flat surface, it should come back toward the larger opening so he can get it out. I don't usually let the kongs stay out too long, if I see that Rowdy is done with it, i usually wash it and stuff it for next time (I put it in the freezer).

Funnily enough my two are laying here at the moment with a peanut butter kong each.
I rinse them out and stick them in the dishwasher

Just a note. Make sure that you clean it out regularly. I had forgotten about Kaybie's as it got covered under her blankets in her crate. I found it a few weeks later and I was horrified to look inside and see little wiggling maggots on the left over little bit of peanut butter. I felt horrible but thankfully I got it out of there before Kaybie saw it. I couldn't even touch it I was so grossed out. My BF took it for me and boiled it to make sure it was sterilized and ok for Kaybie to use again.

My dogs love peanut butter stuffed in their kongs, but I had never thought of stuffing them ahead of time and freezing them. I am gonna try that with Sarge and Maggie. Thanks for the idea.

I use matched banana to put in the kong and Oscar loves it. I clean his kong in the dishwasher. There is always a bit left at the end of the kong.

I always clean the kongs in the dishwasher. They can't possibly get every bit out with those long tongues
