Tomorrow the new medication should be in so Indy can start for his MCT. The tumor on his face has gotten so large and another lymph node has begun growing. I am hoping for a miracle and preparing for the worst. We actually need something to change quick. He can't go on much longer with the tumor growing as fast as it is.

I know it is still in the "study" stage but I don't have any choice, I have to at least give it a chance. One of the reports I read says it has a 60% success rate. I'll take those odds at this time. If it doesn't help Indy hopefully we can help the next dog with this disease.

Might be of interest to you.....

My girls vet was involved with the development of Palladia.
I took Cami in to visit with her today and asked about it.
We have talked about it in the past but it was at that time just a "number".

So pretty verbatim here:
Me: "How is the use of the new drug going?"
Her: "Palladia?"
Me: "Yes"
Her: "GREAT!!!" (with a smile on her face)....I was involved with its creation. I have been using it since 2002."
Me: "I know. You are all over the internet being quoted about its use". "You're famous!"
Her: (laugh)......
Me: "What about all of the nasty side effects? Are you seeing many?"
Her: "NONE"
Me: "Really?" "You are quoted in multiple articles about all the terribly bad and SERIOUS side effects including death. How can there not be ANY now?"
Her: "Here at the hospital, since it was approved in the past month, we have not had ANY serious side effects. Minor, yes (nausea, vomiting, diarrhea), but all easily treatable."
Me: "Should I consider it for Cami?"
Her: "No. Cami presents with more of a benign form of the disease. Even though she has had multiple tumors during her lifetime up to this point we have been able to "cure" those. She doesn't have any lymph node involvement or metastasis or aggressive grade 2's or any grade 3's. Save heavy hitters for when and if they are ever needed and continue to utilize what is seemingly working NOW."

That was from this morning, 7/8/09!!

Thanks to everyone for your thoughts and prayer. It is what is getting me thru!!

Susi, that sounds a lot more positive than the last time we discussed the meds. I have attached a couple of pics of Indy taken last night. I want to journal his "recovery". The picture of the swollen lymph node doesn't do it justice. It is as big as the palm of my hand now and about 1" thick. As you can see we need a miracle and we need it fast! I'll post later today or tomorrow after we meet with the oncologist! We already started nausea meds and he's taking 2 Zantac a day. Hoping to be proactive for the nausea and vomiting when he starts the meds.

60% sucess rate is really good. Indy will be in our prayers that this works for him. Positive healing (((((vibes)))) from Cain and I.

Wow - I hadn't even imagined it getting that much bigger since the last pictures.

Positive thoughts and healing vibes are headed your way...I look forward to seeing happy, healthy pictures soon!
