I just found this post. Tears are running down my face at the thought of another baby boxer going to the bridge. It really gets me so very sad when they leave us so young. I am so very sorry for you and your family.

Still missing you

Oh Gunnar, your engraved rock arrived yesterday. We went out to the courtyard, lit a candle and each of us held the stone a moment to say something to you. Your girl was quiet as she held the stone, tears flowing down her face. Your boy took the stone away to a quiet corner and had his own moment with you. Your baby girl just kept saying she missed you so much. Then we placed it by your favorite mesquite tree and lit a candle. There isn't a moment that goes by that we're not reminded of you somehow.

We were out in the courtyard all weekend wishing you were there to chase your ball and protect us from the birds as we gardened. You were always so brave my little warrior. You are missed so deeply it's difficult to explain because we knew you only briefly. The love we shared was so intense I suppose it makes up for the lack of time in some strange way.

Please keep watch over your "kids". They miss you so much and had such big plans for you, and now you're not there to share them. But we know you're in a better place, doing baby boxer burns and chasing butterflies with all the puppies at the the bridge.

I am so sorry for your loss-you have written beautiful tributes to him. It is so hard to watch them struggling with an illness and whether they are with you for 12 hours or 12 years, it still hurts when they go to the bridge. We were blessed to know Deacon for 5 days and same as you, we never got answers to why he was sick. He left such an impact on us, same as Gunnar did for your family. We can take comfort in the fact that they are now healthy again and that our families have boxer angels watching over them.

What a beautiful tribute to your baby. Baby Gunnar is smiling down on you and his “kids”, knowing how much you loved and will always love him.

Goodbye baby boy Gunnar.

What a lovely idea. Where did you get it. I would like to do something like that for Markus.
