I'm so sorry that you are having to deal with such sadness and stress at a time that should be filled with happiness and excitement.

Don't worry about not being able to give him all the attention you normally would. Make the moments that you do have count- I'm sure he loves just being around you and will be a great buddy to cuddle with while you are home with your new baby (congratulations!).

Poor buddy. These last 5 years were probably the best of his life, thanks to you and your husband. Try to remember that and don't feel bad. You gave him a home, good food, lots of love and the necessary medical attention, not to mention 3 other boxers to hang out with.

We are in process of trying to get a diagnosis on my Frazier...we have decided that we will do everything to keep him happy and comfortable no matter what, but will not put him through endless procedures as he is so nervous and traumatized by just going to the vet...he shakes uncontollably and we don't want to put him through anything that produces such high anxiety and trauma if it won't give him a better quality or only provides a short time more of his little life...

Hi. I haven't been on here much but hopefully you remember me. I have been following your story and just want to add my 2 cents. Austin had a spindle cell tumor on his side. It was pretty big and I also thought it was a fatty tumor due to his age. He ended up having two surgeries for it because of those "arms and legs" that come off of it so they didn't get clean margins the first time. He had about a foot long scar down his side.
I wish you the best with your fur babies, and with your skin baby. I can't imagine going thru all of this at the same time. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you and yes I remember you & Austin. Just to update this thread its so interesting how cancer reacts differently from dog to dog. Here we are almost 5 months after Fluffy was diagnosed and she is still going strong but sadly (just three weeks after diagnosis) Trucker is not doing well. He no longer uses his leg and the tumor is very large now (softball size). He cannot jump on the bed anymore and sleeps a lot. He still eats good though. We are starting a new cancer drug this week called Palladia that (if it works) should shrink the tumor. I'm hoping it works without making him sick. Many spindle cell tumors are slow growing but Trucker has the worst, most aggressive type. For anyone going through this my advice is do your best to find out exactly what your dealing with (type and stage of tumor) before surgery. Because if your dog happens to have this very aggressive type it will come back with a vengeance if you don't get clean margins. In a perfect world or if I would have had a crystal ball to see the future I would have just amputated his leg when we 1st found the tumor and it was still small enough. Now, just three weeks later, its too late. Of course hindsight is always 20/ 20.
