I just got my 3 month old boxer yesterday. She seems too calm. Is this normal? They said she had been wormed the day before and seems to have a touch of dirrehea. She isn't as active as I thought she would be. She was given to me as a gift so I didn't get to pick her out or anything. She is really sweet but is sleeping alot and doesn't get up much. She sleeps about 2 hours and then plays (by herself-won't with us yet) for about 15 minutes and then plops down to sleep some more. She also woke up earlier sounding like she was trying to cough up a hairball. Should I take her to the vet?

Congratulations on your baby girl! Perhaps she is just adjusting to her new family and home. Have you taken her for a vet check yet? It's wise to get that done early on, to make sure she has her shots up to date and she is in good health. If you have already taken her, you could always call the vet with your concerns. Good luck and keep us posted on how she's doing.

thank you for the advice! She seems to be doing a little better tonite-she is chasing and boxing my other dogs (I have 3 Jack Russels and 1 Pug). They don't want to play with her but at least she is not droopy anymore. She ate like she was starving tonite too-she does look a little skinny but that will fix itself I hope. I am still going to try to get her into the vet this week though-already attached. I would be upset if I lost her!

Yupe, I agree. When I first got Aasha I took him to the vet 2 days after I got him to get a check up, make sure everything was going the right way. :)

If you think about it, she's just been taken from the only home she's ever known and sent somewhere new. It's bound to take a little time for her to get her bearings and get used to all the new sights, sounds and smells. I'm sure she will come around in no time at all! Congratulations!

Well I took Chrissy to the vet today. She is a little malnourished and dehydrated. The reason she is so calm is she was kept in a kennel and not allowed to run. The vet said she would be fine as long as I let her loose around the house. Her muscle tone is not good from not excersing. Everything "wrong" with her I can have fixed in a week. She told me that in about 3 weeks I was gonna wish she was this calm!!

Glad to hear that Chrissy is OK!! :) She is in a much better place now that she is with you, in a loving home where she will be taken care of.

Jager was very calm and slept a lot the first week or two we had him. now i REALLY miss those days! they're still babies then . .. and just like a human baby they need a lot of sleep. i hope all your dogs are great friends with her soon! i know my mom's jacks are very hyper dogs, so they should all work well together! Have fun!!
