How sad. Your original post was so hopeful, I was shocked to read that Howey didn't make it. I am sending a check to MMBR today to help continue this wonderful work.

I was so excited to read about little Howie and then read taht he passed away this morning.
Im soo sad for him. thank goodness he was being cared for and could pass with knowing a little bit of love.

We have decided that Howies death cannot be in vain. We will use his story and photos to help educate the public so that maybe some neighbor or friend will speak up when they see a dog going downhill like poor Howie did. If someone could have gotten him to us just a little sooner maybe the outcome could have been different.

We have also decided to cremate him and have his ashes and story in the lobby of our vets office so that he will never be forgotten. Our vet, who is heartbroken today, is all for it too.

Thank you to everyone for all of your support, good thoughts and vibes and condolences in this matter. Our whole group is broken hearted over Howie today.

Please light a candle for him.

His photo made me appreciate the hard,and heartbreaking work that you rescue angels do every day.

Oh no!!! As I was reading this thread I was hoping for good news! Poor Howie! At least his last days were with caring people and perhaps he was made more comfortable and felt safe thanks to the rescuers' efforts.

This is heartbreaking story. Just as Howie got his big break in life, his life suddenly ended. I am so sorry for the loss.

Accused Killers Arrested!

They have arrested and charged two people in the Killing of Dunn Madra.

All of the info on the story is on our website at http://mmbr.rescuegroups.com/info/display?PageID=4298

Our vet will be testifying and Dunns ashes are going to sit at the prosecution table.
I did find out that this morning, the woman was bailed out but the man is still in jail.

The judge set the highest bond allowed for their bail.
