Newest Addition to MMBR

We brought Hungry Howie into rescue today with Mid Michigan Boxer Rescue. I have been involved with this organization now for over 5 years, and have never felt so heartsick. He came out of a shelter, that had contacted us directly when he was picked up as a stray. I will post the link to his page at the end of my post, but beware - this is a very sad looking boy! I am happy to report that he (unbelievably) tested heartworm negative and the rest of his bloodwork came back good, with the exception of him being anemic - which is no wonder with the number of fleas he came in with. I have uploaded a pic of this sweet boy to my gallery also. If I ever questioned why I was involved in rescue, this boy is definitely the answer. Please send healing boxer vibes out to this boy. Just the look on his face absolutely breaks my heart. I am so glad that we have him now and he will be safe and warm and have a full belly - he will never be hungry again. Thanks for posting this Vicki. He is a real happy boy according to our vet. He will stay there for a couple of weeks at least.

That is so sad, it just makes me heartsick. Poor boy, I'm so glad he was found in time to be helped and saved. I hope he finds a home that will love and care for him. After everything it looks like this guy has been through, he deserves it. :(

I see things that make me sad, but this is shameful :(. I hang my head for the human race sometimes, and this is definately one of those times. These guys DEPEND on us, humans, to look out for them. HOW could anyone let this happen? Did they think he could take care of himself? Maybe he ran away, I don't know, but if he was being loved he wouldn't have wanted to. I can't believe he is still alive. Thank goodness that he is now in a place where he will be cared for. I will hope that he recovers and finds his forever home where he will always be doted on and loved the way he deserves to be.

Howie

It is with a very sad and heavy heart that I let you all know that Howie crossed the rainbow bridge last night. Despite every effort by everyone he is gone. Our Vet will try to find out what happened, but I just believe he may have given up. Godspeed Howie.
