Well, there's no turning back now - our ad should be in next week (or the following week's) Time Out New York and I put up a poster at Madison Square Park dog run. Will do Washington Square probably tomorrow if I have time. Hopefully the poster won't get taken down at MSP - there's no usable poster board there. And I've met people that I've spread the word to in person - so do that if you see people w/ Boxers.

Hello to all!!!

I am a new member and am interested in the bash if it has not passed allready. I would also be interested in helping organize if it is not over yet.

Kathy;)

Kathy-

The Boxer bash is next weekend, on Saturday at 4pm at the dog run between 1st ave and the FDR on 42nd Street. There's really nothing you can do to help aside from spreading the word to other area Boxer owners if you know any and showing up yourself. Hope to see you there!

Wow, this sounds like fun! I hope to be able to make the 1st Annual Boxer Bash in Manhattan. I live in Orange County (about 1 hour North of the City) and would love to bring my son, Spartacus, to play with the other "kids". Only problem I have is that my hubby, an FDNY firefighter, will be working that day which leaves me with our "human" three year old twin girls. It may be too much for me to handle the girls and the dog for a day in Manhattan...lets see how brave I am!

If you're brave enough to bring the kids there is a separate sectioned-off area that they can be in so they won't be overwhelmed with dogs. It's really an excellent dog-run.

Hi Everyone,

I hope everyone enjoys the bash this weekend. I wish I had someone to bring, but I haven't found a pup yet! If anyone can recommend a good breeder I would appreciate it! Hopefully I can make it to the next boxer reunion!

Well, I'm mystified to say the least, but Time Out did not print our ad. I've written an email asking why. So hopefully the posters I put up at three dog runs and word of mouth and the people here will yield a good turnout. The weather is looking good.

That stinks about Time Out. I'm trying to write about it on urbanhound.com, but we'll see if I am able to....

Quick question...is the dog run we are going to on saturday for the bash Robert Moses Dog Run? I saw that one on urbanhound and it said that it is on 41st between 1st ave and the FDR, not 42nd at the FDR...is that correct or is there an entrance on 42nd too? Just don't want to get lost w/ our pup in tow...it's his first trip into the city from Queens. I assume it's the same place, just want to confirm the exact location.

thanks,
rachel

It is Robert Moses - and while Robert Moses Park fills the area between 41 and 42, the dog run itself is on 42nd street, as is the only entrance.

Time Out replied to my email:

I'm sorry we weren't able to list your event, but unfortunately, we simply cannot print every listing that is submitted. You should know that submitting a listing, even with complete information, is no guarantee that you'll be included in the magazine. You're more than welcome to contact one of our advertising representatives to purchase an ad if you need that kind of certainty in the future, but the editorial listings are based on choices made by the editors.

What's more important that a Boxer get-together? I guess some people haven't seen the light...
