It has taken me a while to get back to posting on BW, after our sudden loss of Butterbean. My husband and I still miss him tremendously - I often look at pictures of him and wonder what he might look like today and how he would be behaving. Those of you who were familiar with the story of Butterbean might like to know that we have a new puppy in our house. Long story short, the weekend after BB's death I called our Boxer Club to put feelers out for a new puppy, with no intention of finding one right away. Turns out that there was a breeder about 30 minutes from where we live who had ONE PUPPY left in the litter. Hubby and I were still unsure if we were ready to let another puppy into our lives so quickly after we lost Beanie, but we decided to go "check her out" and make a decision from there. I felt, in my heart, that it was one of those moments in life that I could not ignore. So, we went out there on a Sunday morning, and there were seven ADORABLE boxer pups who absolutely loved people. It was such a nice day that we even got to play with all seven puppies in the backyard. At one point I had a puppy sleeping on my lap, a puppy trying to catch my shirtsleeve, and two puppies teaming up to untie my sneaker. I could not stop laughing, and for a brief moment, forgot how sad I had been feeling about BB. In any case, the little girl that was available was really friendly and cute, so we decided to go for it. So, on September 17 we picked our black-faced fawn up from the breeder and brought her home. What I find really funny is how quickly I had forgotten the difficulties of those first few days with a new baby. We decided to name the puppy Zuzu's Petals, from "It's A Wonderful Life," because they were symbolic in the movie of the hope of life. We call her Zuzu, and she is a WHIPPERSNAPPER. I am amazed every day at how much of a devil she can be one second, and how much of a cuddle-bug she can be the next second. I don't have any pics of her posted yet, but I thought I would write to let everyone know about our new baby!!!
