Boxer Pal
I've been a boxer owner for a long time. Of all the breeds that I've owned boxers seem to suit my personality and lifestyle the best. This is the the first boxer community that I've joined. I found Boxer World while searching for information related to ACL surgery, TPLO procedures, etc. Romeo is my current boxer buddy a fancy fawn, he will be 5yrs old in May. Romeo was the runt of the litter, he had two sisters. Romeo has been through a lot during his first few years but he has an awesome outlook on life and such a wonderful spirit about things, he sometimes is the only happy face I see in a day.

Pray for us, we will likely be undergoing TPLO surgery on Monday, depending on the x-rays. We have the best of orthopedic surgeons in the area. I'm just not sure how we're going to make it through the 6-8 weeks recovery.

Romeo travels everywhere with me and is seldom left at home, we are very athletic, and frolic often. I think we will be sleeping in my library on the floor, I can probably lay the seats down in my Mini Cooper and he can lie in the back when we travel.

It is good to write this stuff out I find it to be somewhat therapeautic. I'm not the most social of people nor the most articulate but, I hope to hear from some of you if/when I get accepted to the forum.

welcomeicon to Boxerworld! It sounds like Romeo has a fantastic life and owner. I wish you and Romeo the best of luck on Monday. If it comes to surgery, be sure to stock up on lots of frozen kongs and "quiet time" treats. Keeping a boxer calm while healing is definitely a challenge, but hopefully he'll be up and doing boxer-burns in no time.

:)

Romeo

Thank you all for the kind words. We had a consultation with the orthopedic surgeon today. Romeo was a little dopy from the anethesia necessary for the x-rays. He will sleep well tonight.

The bottom line is that he has only a tear in the cruciate ligament. I'm going to try laser and a few other things to avoid TPLO or TTA. I'm just not going to cut on my dog without trying every other option first as long as he is feeling no pain and living happy.

Maybe when it is time for the surgery they will have come up with a less invasive procedure to stabilize and prevent cartilage damage than metal plates and screws. Not to mention 6 weeks of confinement to a crate or small room. So barbaric.
