Boxer Blue

I just wanted to start off with a hello to all the forum members, and introduce myself and the new member of our family.....Blue! We just picked him up from the breeder on Saturday February 13th, 2010, and he has blended into the family very well already. We have two children in the home, a 17 year old girl, and a 4 1/2 year old son. Both are very excited to have this new personality in our family, and are helping out well so far.
We named him Blue based on the breeder using color coding to keep track of each dog. We requested a male, and she emailed us the three boys she had available....blue, green, and gold. We loved the blue one just based on his picture and tentatively agreed to him, based on a personal meeting. Over the next couple weeks, we just started to refer to him as "Blue", and that became his name. His official registered name will be "Dexter Blue Von Pot Licker". We got a kick out of some of the show dogs names, and came up with one ourselves!
So far, for the first few days, all has been well. Well, for the most part. Crate training is going well. He is eating really well so far, and we are slowly changing his food over from what the breeder gave with no problems here. One issue so far, which I understand is fairly common is worms. We believe them to be tapeworms from what our research has shown. He has his first vet visit tonight, so we will be asking a lot of questions there!
I'll post a picture that we took his first day home with us, as soon as my membership is fully approved. I look forward to being a member of this community. I love forums for that sense of community, and for the information support that they provide. Thank you!
