My two follow me everywhere! Now it gets harder on them if my hubsbands home because then they "have" to travel between the two. Heaven forbid we do something in opposite rooms. Now my female has no real intrest when you go to the bathroom anymore, but Clay is another story. He feels like its his personal mission to help you go to the bathroom. Ive gotten to the point I have to lock the door just so he doesnt home in. Now, he'll knock on the door and huff very loudly until you exit the bathroom. I love that they want to be near me so much, but like someone else said its easy to trip, and gets old every now and then.

ABBY, who is two and half years old, has become more indepedant by now. But, she will still come and check to see if I'm still where she last saw me at, just to ease her mind. My opionion is, I think it's a bonding issue. She depends on me to be there, and my presence reassures her that she is not totally alone.

Maxsmomma

Boxer Buddy
Max definitely has to be right with one of us. It's funny though. His "favorite" changes depending on who is spending the most time with him. When we first got him, he was definitely a "daddy's dog". (I was really pissed about that since I was the one who wanted a boxer. My husband wanted a Jack Russell!!) Then I had a week of vacation and was home with him every day. For a long time, he was glued to my side. I loved it. During the winter my husband doesn't work much, so he's been home with Max for almost two weeks. I've lost my shadow. I told Seth I was going to take a vacation just to get my dog back!!

tatum

Super Boxer
Well Tatum is 2 and he follows me around to the point he will try to fall asleep standing up! When he actually does lay down and fall asleep he doesn't hear me leave him (he's deaf) and then comes charging through the house until he finds me and then he has this look on his face "oh there you are" and goes and lays back down. He can't stand it if I shut the door to the bathroom and he isn't in there with me.

Sasha is 9 yrs old and she is the same way. She will sit at your feet if you are standing or sit on your lap if you are sitting.

Indy's mom

Boxer Insane
They are funny aren't they? I have to agree with Lola's Mom though, so we have tried to be sure that there is a balance. Indy's now 3 1/2 and has 'grown up' a bit. He'll lift his head every now and again to see where DH is but that's about it. But for the most part he is in the same room as me. If I take a bath, he tromps up the stairs and goes into the bedroom to wait for me, follows me from one end of the house, etc. Still there are places he won't go. He has never been in the basement in this house. We leave the door open but no matter how long I'm down there, he will not step foot down there, go figure.

But it's the way his behavior changes when DH is gone that reinforces my belief that he is to some extent 'checking in'. DH is a firefighter, works 24 hours, 48 if he has overtime. When he is gone Indy is more alert. Never aggressive at all. Just walks to the windows more. Alerts to passers by, that sort of thing. Lola's Mom is right, I'm in charge not him, so I work on tricks more on those days, training him to remind him that I can handle things, but 'hey, thanks Buddy, it's good to know you're paying attention!' And he follows me back to my chair. Sigh. lovicon

It's funny I was thinking about this post when I was taking down my Christmas decorations. Indy had a bull stick and everytime I went down to the basement he followed me layed down and chewed. As soon as I went back up he followed me back and same thing layed down and started chewing. After about 6 trips he was wooing at me to stay in one place so he could enjoy his bully. It was too funny he wouldn't leave me or the bully.

I don't think it's a boxer thing! Besides Bayleigh, we also have Wyatt (a mixed breed) and a cat, Izzy. They can be sound asleep until I get up, then here they come! They are very offended if I shut the bathroom door and will lay outside the door with their noses pressed against the crack.

If I take a bubble bath, both dogs lay on the floor by the tub and the cat sits on the edge.

These replies are so funny. Rocky is two now and you cannot sneak out of the room without him following. He'll briefly go upstairs to get some water or something (I spend most of my time in the den downstairs) and as soon as he hears you move he comes flying downstairs. It's like he's scared to death he's going to miss something.
