thanks for all the good vibes and responses!

as far as the neighbor, she seemed genuinely surprised that i wasn't there to read her the riot act, that i just stuck out my hand and started chirping away at her pleasantly.

by nature, i'm the kind of person more likely to walk away from a confrontation in tears, so i was really worried about how she would react. i tried to convince myself it would be an intervention, not an argument. i just did not give her a chance to get defensive, i started giving unsolicited advice and shoving toys and a leash and collar at her. and how could anyone be snotty when they are rifling through a gift bag?

at any rate, i was outside shoveling snow today and noticed her daughter taking the dog out on his new leash to go potty :) . i gave her the thumbs up, and she waved back. still, i plan on being as watchful as i promised her i would.

Good for you!! I am so glad the poor baby has you looking out for him. I know how cold it has been here lately, and Tyson won't even go out to pee. It's a battle. Thanks for watching out for him. Maybe they just didn't know how to care for the little pup. Tyson and I will be saying a silent prayer for your new friend.

That is awesome appicon I think that's the best way you could have handled it, and with the best possible outcome! So glad that she was receptive! Hope she keeps it up! cool2icon

CALL ANYONE! CALL SOMEONE!!! Please please! I have rescued a 3yr old pit who was treated this way. She is such a lovely girl but has so many issues due to improper care and no socialization. We don't need one more pitbull in another rescue cause the owner thought they were cute and later couldn't be controlled.

Too many pitties end up euthanized because of owners just like this one! Please save her! Before one of us rescuers have to rehabilitate her or she needs to be euthanized.

Ooopsy! I posted and didn't see the last page. Anger took over and I became blind!

So glad you got to talk to them. Hopefully they are the type to be more diligent knowing someone is watching.

Keep watching though. If only every neighbor was like you! The rescue shelters would be doing more rescuing than euthanizing!

Yeah to good neighbors!

Kudos to you. appicon I think you handled the situation is a beautiful manner. As my Nana always told me you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar ;) . I'm sure that the friendly way you behaved let the lady really hear what you had to say and to learn from it.
I would also continue to be a very visible presence as well as maybe asking if she would like to go for short walks or maybe play in the yard on warmer days. She may just need education on how to be a good pet owner. And then you could also give her great pointers on training her little pup so he grows to be a good dog.

You handled the situation wonderfully. Much better than I would have because my temper would have gotten the better of me. You'll probably turn out to be their favorite neighbor!

great way to handle it, way to go appicon. thats great that the little girl was using the leash and taking the puppy out hopefully it was just lack of knowledge on their part and they are now learning either way you did good.
