Stop Stressin!!!
As a Mom of 4 and a daycare provider of several years I can safely tell you to STOP STRESSING! She will do it in her own time! My youngest turned 4 in August....she had potty trained herself right around 2 years then she got sick and was in the hospital for a week needless to say potty-trained went right out of the window! We have dealt with panties and pull-ups for the last 2 years....she is a person with her own mind and will (if yours is like mine, "strong-willed" is an understatement) you cannot force another person (even a child) to do something that they do not want to do (short of brute force,

). I have found that ignoring the bad behavior and showing NO emotion one way or the other is very effective on the strong-willed kids that act out for attention. As with animals attention is attention, screaming mad or praise, it doesn't matter it is still attention! Do not listen to the "old school" parents that tell you that ignoring is not acceptable and that you have to show you kids "who is boss" unless you had your children with the intent of employing them in some aspect you are not their boss you are their parents you deserve their respect and obedience but in order to get it you are going to have to "train" them what you expect and what is acceptable versus what is unacceptable...award and praise the acceptable and explain (once or twice) the unacceptable and then completely ignore it when they do it again....a few times of being ignored they will quit...it is no fun if your not getting a reaction. Of course i believe that if your childs actions put themselves or the safety of someone else at risk then a more severe and drastic action must be taken....the ocasional paddling (not very often at all) or the make you feel 1 inch tall speech that you grandparents or parents were so good at (again, not very often, no need to break their self-esteem down). These are just the way I deal with things in my household....they work for us very well. I do not want to come off sounding like a know it all because I know that I don't even know a fraction of anything,

. Some of these thing are just (seemingly) common sense and some of these things are on advice from grandparents and greatgrandparents and more of them are from various parenting classes and training that is required by my state for me to be licensed daycare operator. I would not stress over your childs potty training, she will get it eventually....after all, when is the last time you met a teenager or a twenty-something wearing a diaper? That is what I thought....she will get there in her own time and her own way. sorry so long. Trish
