Boxer Pal
 Hi I have a three year old boxer, I have had her as a pup it was about 5 weeks ago that daz (the boxer) tried to dominate my one year old. Started when my one year old started to walk. Daz was fine when she was crawling around but this is what happens.
One day the baby walked next to her in the kitchen next to my wife and the dog went after the baby pined her to the floor growling at her and trying to bite her neck. Like daz was playing with a dog, the next time the dog was sleeping and the baby walked up to daz and she started to growl at her, the next time the dog, the baby and I was playing on the floor the dog started to eat her bone and the baby started to take the bone from the dog and the dog growled at her so I took the bone from her and daz growled at me she has never done that to me! We can take anything away from her and she will not do noting but wait to get it back. The next time I was in the kitchen cooking myself something to eat. The dog was around the baby and me. The baby walked up to me. The dog started to look at her and going up to her and stood next to her next daz got really stiff as in the boxer stand. Daz started to sniff her face then started to growl and going after her neck again and tiring to pin her to the floor.
Now when it first started we tried to get the baby to give daz her treats. Playing ball with the baby and myself we have just tried it all.
So now we took Daz to the vet and they found noting wrong with her. But they said to try a trainer and the baby. So my wife and I started to talk and we both think that a trainer is going to do anything more then we are doing now showing daz that the baby is not a threat to her.
Well from there we started talking about getting her a new home before we are not there and something does happen. What do all of you think?

First off, gettting rid of the dog isn't fair to the dog nor is it the answer to your problems. Yes, a trainer will be able to help you with this situation.

Now, a 1 year old is too young to have much social interaction with a dog, especially an established dog such as yours. The dog thinks of the baby as another dog and more than likely is either trying to engage it in play or is jealous of it getting more attention than he gets. These are not insurmountable problems. They will simply take some time and TRAINING!

Please do a search here at Boxerworld using search words such as "children and boxers" and you'll find tons of information and suggestions on how to deal with this issue.

In the meantime, here is one excellent post from Krikkit on the subject with links to articles that might be of help to you.

we have six kids and our boxer amber has never really tried anything like this with any of the younger ones ,only the odd warning growl now and again.we have had kids crawling around the house
since amber was brought into the home as a pup so she has grown up with them and was trained from the start how to behave around them.
food wise at a young age she taught that we could take her food away from her at any time whilst eating and have never had a problem there.on the odd occasions she has growled near them she would be sent to her bed for a while and told off.it's a thing that takes time, supervision and like many aspects of training patience, especially with kids
it can be a worry but just stick with it.
