Boxer Booster
Aimee,
First of all glad to hear that your Baxter is doing so well and a belated Happy Birthday. I can't believe I haven't been involved in this discussion topic as my own boxer Riggo was diagnosed with cancer (Leukemia w/ hypercalcemia) in late August. I too was devestated as he is the first dog that I have had on my own and is like a son to me as I live alone. I have been posting my own story under " Say a prayer my boxer has Leukemia". He has been doing much better on conventional chemotherapy working with my own vet and probably the top oncologist on the East Coast Dr. Jeglum in West Chester.
From reading through this thread today I notice that you've been working with an oncologist, your personal vet and a holistic vet that you seem to be happy with. I have thought about supplementing his conventional chemo with a trip to a holistic vet myself. I have a couple of questions with this approach:
Do you find it confusing working with 2 different types of vets and do you ever think your circumventing one therapy with the other?
Also does your oncologist and/or regular vet feel like their getting their toes stepped on by the holistic vet?

Bottom line, don't worry about stepping on any toes. Your main concern is the best quality care for Riggo and no vet can fault you for trying to obtain that. I'm sorry to hear that Riggo also has cancer but it sounds like Riggo has also been doing well! I hope this helps and that I answered all your questions!
