Well I'm pretty sure she means $200 Canadian, and I'm guessing she's talking about a 48", brand-name crate. Puppy crates should not cost that much but I would just get a full size with a divider. Go online, maybe check out EBay, they sell brand new ones for far less than $200 CN.

A 500 Varikennel costs about $60 here in the US. $70 if you want the Ferrari brand. A full size fold down metal crate is about $85 US and at least less than $100 US. I have the largest one Precision makes, Great Dane size, that I paid $120 for. I have bought crates in all sizes so I do know what they go for. And I have bought alot of puppy sized varikennels to ship pups in. I usually pay $35 for a puppy size or $45 for a midsize.

Even if you came down from Canada it would still not cost $200 in exchange rates. So am confused as to just what $200 will buy you in Canada for a dog crate.

If you all think i am better off with a new one...even if i use bleach on the used one....i will look into it.
Do you put anything for comfort on the bottom or just let them sleep on the metal panel....just seems kinda unconfortable for me....but is it safe to put a blanket for a 11 week puppy..sorry for all the questions...its all so new and i want to do it right...we have waited for so long to get a pup...that i want to do it right and make the transition from the breeder to here as comfortable for her as possible
also can you give me some suggestions on a really cute name that is unisex and not too girlie( my 5 year old son says no girlie name)
she is fawn with just a bit of brindle stripping on one side...has a pink nose with a bit of black...if i was able to post a picture you could see.
any advice on the name?the breeder gave me an idea...snickers??what do you think?she has been called something else and the kids want brownie....but she sure doesnt resemble a brownie ..more like caramel

I know you asked about a blanket as well. My Cypress loves this fleece blanket that I made. You know the ones where you cut around the edges and then tie them together? I also have an old comfortor in his crate that he likes. But he is 5 1/2 and doesn't chew. We pet sat for 2 of his year old buddies and one of them ate a big hole in the blanket. Oooops. Some babies will chew up anything you put in with them while others will leave them alone. I got sad when I had to take the blanket away while KC and Boomer were here but I didn't want them to eat it. Can't wait to see pics when you get them posted. My Boyfriend had to show me how to do it too cause I couldn't figure it out. Have fun with your new baby! Cypress sends that girl some boxer kisses when she gets off the plane.

Just a thought on the price of crates here. Yes, the small ones are much less then that. But you would be surprised how much more the same thing is in Canada. Sometimes we can over to the states by the same article put exchange and duty and it still is cheaper! I know it is hard to believe but it is true. I personally bought mine from Walmart. It is 36" and I got it for $100.

Otis is six and a half months old and I still feed him three times a day. I don't work and am home all day and the 3 times a day works for him. But, I would suggest at least feeding him 3x/day until he is 6 months old.

Crate Prices

Hi I have been repricing crates here in Australia & cat cages for our babies when we take our big trip home(2000kms) to my m&d's at chrissy, as an example a smaller no name plastic cat crates is costing approx $75.00AUD as opposed to $11.99USD (approx $17.00AUD) & ones big enough for our babies are priced from $150.00aud upwards depending on how "designer" you want to go..SO MAYBE YOU COULD LOOK AT BUYING IT IN THE STATES AND GET IT SHIPPED TO YOU.. we have decided that the dog trailer with the dividers in place is a lot more friendly (and we can borrow my friends as she doesnt need it over the break) especially seeing as our babies are free roaming at home & at m&D's.... our vet uses shreded newspaper in the bottom of their crates at the clinic for visitors so they have a softer sleeping space & its easier to clean if their is any accidents.
