Congratulations! A well thought out decision is the best one, so I am sure you are making the right choice. :D I can't wait to see pics and hear all about her!!!!

I fed Willis 3 times a day until about 6 months... their tummies can't go too long without food. Search out the puppies forum to get some excellent ideas on things you might not even have thought of.

I personally would wait. If I were in your shoes, I would not want to wait either, what is more exciting then a new puppy. However it seems that your June pup will be worth the wait. In the meantime you can continue reading about boxers, training etc.
This new breeders and situation seems a little too rushed. Didn't she have a waiting list for people interested in the litter?
Be aware, On the phone she can be telling you how great this puppy is and how she wanted to keep her but doesnt have time to show her too, etc. However, it really could be that no one else would buy her, etc. No one is going to admit is there is something wrong.
You send her money, she sends you puppy and what if it is a sick pup? what if she doesnt send the papers, what if you call her and her phone number is changed.
Its alwayss buyer beware, but I would wait. Meet the dam of the June litter. Meet the breeder. See the whole litter, see which puppy picks you. Litters have such unique personalities, make sure you bring home the one that fits in with your lifestyle. The breeder will be able to help you with that choice and will probably tell you which pup would be best.
Until June maybe you could help your local boxer rescue and foster short term. That way the boxer bug will be cured and you will get to see what life is like with a boxer and you will be helping a boxer in need!!!

Congratulations :D

It sounds to me as though you've researched this breeder pretty thoroughly and are happy with her responses and health testing regime. I wouldn't be worried about this being an uplanned litter - it happens, including to reputable breeders (LOL - some of the 'best' litters have been produced from unplanned breedings - which can be very demoralising when the planned litters don't turn out as hoped). I also wouldn't be worried about whether or not this breeder had a waiting list - not everyone keeps one and (whether we like it or not) puppies are subject to the laws of supply and demand like any other 'commodity'. Sometimes everyone wants a flashy brindle male, and the litter turns out to be all female.

The only thing that would concern me slightly is that you can't meet the puppy first. But with that said, good breeders try to place individual pups into homes that they feel will best suit the puppy rather than letting people just choose. That is generally done by talking with prospective buyers about their circumstances, not by performing a 'home visit'. It could well be that your breeder has indeed decided that yours is the best potential home for that puppy. Doesn't mean there weren't any other options ;)

As for the distance - well I don't consider that an issue either. If you deal with an honest person who cares for their pup's wellbeing then you shouldn't have any problems. If you end up with someone less than honest, well it doesn't really make much difference how close they are, you still get burned.

Anyway - it seems to me you've researched well, and are happy with your decision :) So, best of luck, and enjoy your new girl :) Hope it all goes well.

Debbie

PS: A three month old puppy should be fed a *minimum* of three times a day (4 times is better though, if you can manage it). By the time she's 5-6 months old, you could drop that back to twice a day.

LOL, I think I was typing as you were updating because you already made a decision:)
I am glad that you feel comfortable with the breeder as that is really important. It seems like you guys are just bursting with warmth and love for your new puppy so that litte girl is lucky to have you guys waiting for her.

she is on her way

I spoke to the breeder on the phone....we have been emailing until now for a month
This puppy was unplanned and she told me how it happenned ...how the mom went to heat late and did not show signs as usual...it as a accident...she did not SHOw that she was pregnant so the breder thought nothing came of the "meeting"...but a surprise came...yes there was a pregnancy but just ONE pup//....this is the pup
like i said it ws not planned and she did not intend to keep the pup...but she is so stunning...that she began to cosider maybe showing her.The breeder was undecided and felt that if an amzing home for the pup showed itself she would then let her go.
We are that home.....she has asked me a lot of questions as i have asked her.
Like i said before she is very well known in the show world and is a reputable breeder.
The pup will have her vaccination this week and then be spayed...once the vet ok's her to travel we are going to get our baby
I went shopping today and got the kibble she is on now...by nutro...for puppies
i also went a bit overboard with treats....toys...cute feeding bowls...well you all know how hard it is not to buy stuff for your fur babies!!
We want to surprise the kids...they know she is coming but dont know the day yet....this will be the best xmas ever!!!
her name will be BROWNIE
she is fawn and has some brindle stripping on one side....the breeder said when she saw her ...her 1st thought was" this is a perfect dog for someone who cannot decide on either fawn or brindle"
She has the cutest sad little eyes that are just irresistable

If i knew how to post the pictures here i would show you.;;;i have a lot of pictures of her already and would love for you guys to see her
any advice for the most illiterate computer user hereLOL
By the way any advice what i should do the minute we get her off the plane...should i let her out of the crate in the airport or wait till we get outside....i am sure she will be so scared and nervouse...poor thing

Yes, please do post some pics :) She sounds very cute, and I'd love to see her colouring (I've heard of the occassional brindle with striping only on one side, but never seen one in the flesh).

Help/instructions on how to post pics are here :)
