Directions from Woodstock

I'm not exactly sure where Woodstock is. If you go online to Mapquest.com, they will give you specific directions to get to the park. The park is near the intersection of 31st St. and route 83 in Oakbrook. Good luck, and we hope to see you there.

Hey Gang, beware of a Rottweiler and Pug pair at this dog park. D. was "boxing" with another of our kind tonight, some other pups joined in, then the pair mentioned above came and attacked my baby! Thank god for Daddy of Rocky (I think), who took the Rott off D. (and got bit himself). He check my pup and sure enough, he was scraped and punctured on his back and neck. Owner didn't even apologize, and I was the one who put my baby on a leash and left :-(

I was too stunned at the time to ask if her animals were current on shots. So we're medicating and hoping for the best. I'm a little worried about going back--ever. D's pretty shaken by the whole incident, as am I.

OH MY WORD!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a B*****!!!! I am shocked! I cannot believe what I just read! I'm sorry to hear your little baby got hurt! I don't blame you for never wanting to go back to that park. Do you remember what this woman looked like? I'd certainly like to give her a piece of my mind about the whole thing!!!! GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Maybe next time we can set up for another doggie park - hopefully one that's fenced in.

Take care of your little baby.. :(

WOW...that is so scary and I totally understand your hesitation of going back. I haven't run into those dogs as of yet and will certainly keep my eye out.

On a postive note I've gone to Mayslake 3-4 times a week for ages and haven't seem any incidents like Diablo's. It is a possibility, though, anytime you go to ANY dog park that something could happen and hopefully owners with dogs this aggressive will keep away and take more responsibilty for their dogs actions. Its a shame that the mean dogs keep the nice ones away.

I hope Diablo is healing/has healed well and our deepest sympathies are with him. Poor Baby!!!!

Thanks, all. Don't remember the owner well, but fat black Rott and fat black pug. We're off to play with some cousins this weekend, and it surely will build our confidence (mine more than D.'s) again. Plus, I'm seeking the definitive answer...can he swim? We'll know soon. He seems to like water...

It sounds like Diablo is doing ok. We're all glad he wasn't seriously hurt. I hope those dogs stay the hell away from the park when we are all around. I'm not quite sure how I would react if that were to happen to my little girl, or any of the dogs for that matter. Anyway, have a good weekend and let us know if D is a swimmer.

How was it?

D. had a great time, the travelling Bears' fans just loved talking to him car to car (yep, we didn't move too fast). Don't have the answer to sink or swim, as it turns out the pool had a liner, and owners didn't want to risk a tear :(

Hope you all had a good time. When's the next?

It sounda like Diablo is doing fine. The bash was fun, but a little too hot for the dogs. I think we counted 21 Boxers at one time. It just wasn't the same without D! Hopefully we all can get together again next month. By the way, your friends Rott and Pug were at the park that day. Fortunately there were no incidents. We should have a nice turnout for the next bash with the cooler weather and all. See you soon!

Great, I'm travelling a bunch, but will be in town most weekends. And I'm glad D's "buds" were outnumbered by the Boxers--he's just now starting to grow fur over the wounds.

HI all!

I am looking forward to another bash...it's good that the weather has cooled a bit so I know I'll be bringing my babies up there more and more...I think a mid to late Sept. bash would be good... What does everyone think?

I also think we should do SOMETHING to introduce ourselves to everyone. I'm a little bit on the shy side sometimes and never want to intrude on people, but it would be nice to know - somehow - who's from boxerworld. Any suggestions? Maybe we could put bright colored bandanas on all our babies? T-shirts? Hats? (Proud Parent of A Boxer)??? Just kidding about that last one.. If anybody has any idea of how we can determine who's part of the website, speak up. I think it would be nice to know who's approachable & who's not..
