Hi everyone,
I just wanted to say I LOVE this board I have learned so much I have been reading so much. We have had Lilli B. for almost 1 month and when we first had her I had her on Iams puppy untill I started reading all the threads so i switched her to chicken Soup puppy and she loves it she loves to eat anything. Just had her at the vet yesterday her weight is great 19 pounds for 11.5 weeks old and the vet asked what food is she on, is she still on Iams and I said No I switched to chicken soup. He said I never heard of it and I don't think that was a good decision please bring the bag in tomorrow so I can review the bag so I can see if it is up to par??? Why would you switch from Iams it is one of the best???
What the heck?

It doesn't sound like the vet said Chicken Soup is bad.
He said she wants to look at the ingredients and make his decision after that.

Take in the bag and let him form his own opinion.
I am interested to see what he says. :)

If he needs to see the bag, then he doesn't know anything about Chicken Soup. Take him the ingredient list and see what he has to say. It's a heck of a lot better than anything IAMS has to offer. By the way,IAMS is not one of the best available.

Would love to hear what He has to say!!

I would absolutely love to hear what the vet says when he sees the ingredients. Please post what he says!! I can't wait!! I really wonder why these vets do not know A THING about food and the nutrients... It doesn't make sense to me. They are misleading a lot of people.. I wonder if they do it b/c it is a type of job security... bad food.. sick dog... need vet... not to be ugly... those aren't my intentions... just curious and cracking a lil joke.. thats all. Any thoughts or kudos?? haha

I think its mainly due to lack of time. I imagine its difficult keeping up with medical advances much less nutrional advances.
Also, the Science Diet,IAMS etc sales reps make it easy for them to stock something that has lots of advertizers. I've noticed more and more veterinary clinics adding Timberwolf Organics to their offerings.

The vets really have no clue. Nutrition was a semester subject in their 8 year schooling. Show him the bag. It is hard to reccomend Iams once you know better.

If you still have the bag from Iams, I would bring BOTH bags and let your Vet compare the ingredients for himself (unless he markets Iams in his office). Just know that changing from Iams to CS is a great decision, no matter WHAT he says :) CS is one of the better foods out there right now ;) I too am dying to know what his response will be!

Do you all think a vet can decipher good ingredients from bad? I'd say go to a resource like doog food analysis print up your own proof and educate at least one vet! I feed mine CS and i've heard everything from "you're feeding what?" to "Cambells soup is bad for dogs!" from vet's iv'e talked with it really is hilarious (sort of) that they know so little. If I had to feed Iams or Science Diet both of which my vet recommends I'd just go with out having a dog!

I had a heck of a time finding a kibble Stella would eat. CS is the ONLY kibble she will even think of eating. Thankfully its a good one. I would love to hear what the vet has to say about it too. My vet had never heard of it either but once he looked into it he was rather impressed. Stella loves it. We drive an hour across town to get it for her. Well worth it in my book.
