From within my own family here are our results:
My brother has a Border Collie
Cousin has 2 Goldens
We grew up with Min. Poodles
Cousins with German Shepherds & Irish Setter
Out of all of those the Goldens and Border Collie DESTROYED Furniture in the house. And it was not for a lack of attention or TOYS. My female boxer girl never chewed anything except her toys and bones. Except for the occasional stealing of a sock and staring at us to give chase for it she has only ever taken a Pumpkin decoration and put some holes in it. Which was my fault because it was her first Halloween and they were small and looked like colorful balls. But after the one she was scolded and given her own toys and never touched another. I think it really has to do with how much attention you give and how much time you spend showing them the correct things to chew on when they are pups. I had to know where she was all the time and what she was doing. If she attempted to get up on furniture or chew on something that wasn't hers she was told NO! LEAVE IT! and given her toy as a replacement and praised when she took it. It obviously works so I think it your willing to put the time in you will have a very well behaved pup.

I heard a lot of similar things before we got out Boxer. I was even told that Boxers are slow learners and in general "dumb" dogs. Everything that was said couldn't be more wrong. Tyson was a quicke learner, if he does something wrong, we'd let him know about it and he woudln't do it again. Tyson is not destructive. He chewed on one book, and did chew up the couch once but the couch is still in good shape. They're energetic and want to play with everyone and everything. The good thing with Tyson is that he know how rough he can be when he's playing. He knows his limits with adults and my niece and nephew who are 6 months and just over 2 yrs old.

You may have only seen his good side, but that's all there probably was.

Boxers are the BEST

This is my first boxer as and adult and let me tell you it is ALOT of work no argument there, but it is so rewarding. When you are sad they'll dry your tears, when you wake up in the morning their tail/butt is wiggling.
Our pup has been GREAT! I've not lost one shoe, piece of furniture or anything that is not hers to chewing. I've lost shoes with other boxers but not her. She is not even interested in things that are not hers.
From the time I brought Roxy home, she has had a variety of different texture things to chew on. She goes and finds whatever fits the chew moment curls up and chews on her bone, toy, ball...

Like anything in life, you need to work at something for it to be successful. Boxers are the most loyal, loving, affectionate dogs God ever sent us...I'm on my 3rd!!! We just rescued a 3yr old brindle girl. I felt that they (Hahns and Otto) have given us so much joy it was time to pay a bit of that back. Even though Bella doesn't understand why she isn't with her family anymore and is in a strange house she already (3 days) has opened her heart to us. YOU enjoy your new baby...love her and everything will be fine. best of luck!
