Boxer Insane
My phone is all messed up and my dad has been trying to call me since Monday but I didn't get any messages until today. So, I call him back and he tells me that they are coming up this weekend (I live by Dallas, they live down by Victoria) and that they were going to wait to tell me but they had to put down my childhood pup Pollyanna (her name is from the movie Pollyanna, I was actually named after Hayley Mills so of course that is my favorite movie).
"Polly" was a rat terrier and over the past three years, she has been suffering with congested heart failure. It has been so sad to see her go downhill...when I left for college I wanted to take her with me but I knew she wouldn't be comfortable somewhere she wasn't familiar with. And everytime I came home she would be getting bigger and bigger (because of the fluid). My parents had her on every kind of medicine you could think of but it was too far gone.
Sometime Monday she was having troubles breathing and my dad called the vet to come take a look at her and said she was just suffering a long death, so my dad had to make the decision to put her down. I know it was the right one but I wish it wasnt...
We have all been expecting this for awhile but when you have an animal for so long, ya'll know how it becomes a part of your family. I feel guilty because I haven't been there much lately and when I am there, I'm busy seeing grandparents and friends and family and don't get to spend much time focusing on her. The last time I was there she could barely move around but she could still lick my hand (it's weird being around a big goofy Boxer for so long, then going home to see your tiny, delicate Terrier).
So, she's not suffering now but although we are, I find peace knowing she's not struggling to survive anymore. She was the perfect dog and won't be forgotton...lovicon
God Speed Pollyanna
