I know this is going to sound crazy but I swear my house is haunted.
to give you a bit of a history, our house was built in 1876 (I think) by a civil war general, who I later found out was also the town coroner!
we've been here for almost a year, but things started happening not too long ago.
the first thing we noticed was one day my boyfriend found about a cup full of rice in his boot. we figured it was from mice (how mice got an entire cup full of rice in his shoe, I don't know, plus they were closed up in a closet).
then a week later, same boots in the closet again, full of rice (and he had worn the boots the night before). now we were a bit skeptical of the whole mice idea.
plus we started noticing cold spots in the house (during the middle of the summer) and the dogs would sit and stare at random spots in the house for a couple minutes, both of them looking at the same something, mesmerized.
then all of a sudden kneesaa started sleeping in the living room, this is the boxer who HAS to sleep on top of me at night!
now during all this my favorite pants were missing. I'd been looking everywhere for them for months!
so I'm downstairs in the cellar doing laundry, I lean down grab a handful of clothes throw it in the washer, lean back down to get more... and there on the shelf at eye level are my pants I've been searching for for months!
I was so scared I was frozen.... I ended up running all the way to the 2nd floor with the pants yelling to my boyfriend.
I ended up finishing the laundry coming upstairs to the bedroom and the bed was covered in water!
there are no pipes in that room, no water on the ceiling, but there was BUCKETS of water on the bed!
so needless to say I was legitimitely freaked!
now nothing has happened in awhile, but another pair of favorite pants are missing, and I'm wondering if I'm gonna go through this again....
on a side note, I found out this week that the previous tenants told my neighbors the house was haunted... so freaked out!

That's creepy! My house is supposedly haunted too, but I haven't had weird experiences like you, just knocks on the door when nobody is there (the dogs barked, of course!), hearing footsteps on the stairway and doors opening on their own. My house is an 1891 Victorian and the first and second owner were doctors. When I was still married, my (now ex) husband said he used to hear water running upstairs and we had heard the doctor liked to wash her hands! I also see the dogs watching things sometimes. I don't know what else to say but hang in there!

Ohhhh I love stuff like this !!! My sister had a haunted house....very spooky...if you can learn to live with them....things may not be so bad....for the pants....just laugh and tell them that the joke it over....and to give me back my pants.....Ok now that everyone thinks I am strange ???

I would love to spend the night there and witness something.....

The best of luck !!!

I love stuff like this too, and by love, I mean "love HEARING about it"! I'd freak if I was the one living in the house with this stuff happening. I'd probably have to move. Depends how this would make me feel. Do you feel scared? Or is it more of a nousence?(sp)

OOOOOOOOShannon, I love it tooooooo! The sound like the Geneal has done anything really mean yet, just trying to get your attention maybe. Being the town coroner hope the house wasn't a morgue or anything like that. There was a program on TV the other nite about a house being haunted by a demon, supposed to be a true story, the house had been a mortuary (sp) at one point. Keep us posted with more stores pleeeeaaassseee.

I saw that program too...quite freaky. I love ghost stories too. I don't know what else to tell you except what Laurie_Duke said about the joke is over. I've heard that people get their house cleansed but I don't know the first thing about it. If it was little things like rice in the boot I think I could overlook it and go on. I couldn't handle my bed being full of water. That's destructive...I'd have to figure something out or move. Sorry I'm not much help but it is very interesting!

Ohhh, I love it too! It sounds like your ghost isn't mean, just mischievous!! Although the water on the bed wasn't too nice.

I saw Sylvia Brown on Montel a couple of times and she says you have to tell them to "go home". I don't know if it really works or not. I do know my a$$ would be out of there in a big hurry!

You are a braver person than I am, the first inclination that I got that the house was haunted I would have been gone!!!
My husband and I are always joking that our house is haunted.......haunted by shoddy contractors.......whoever built our house was definitely into saving a buck or two, I have never seen such a half-a$$ job as this house!! I love it though and will continue to repair and replace. If we ever decide to buy another house I will be sure to hire my own inspector and insist on being present when the inspection is done. LOL.
