Sharon, you have gone through alot lately. Giving Spirit up is very hard but think about the incredible role model you are being for your children. Life isn't always fair but we can still make the most of it. Your an example of that now. I admire you for the courage you have displayed through this chapter in your life. Well, guess what everybody?? Spirit is sleeping at my feet right now!! He ended up not going because the people came down with their dog to introduce them. We took them over to the neighbors across the street (neutral territory) but it was not good! Their dog, Tara, 8mth old female Staff, snapped and growled a bit BUT Spirit seemed like he wanted to tear her apart!!! :eek: Tara calmed down and Spirit continued to froth at the mouth. I couldnot unleash him as he was just too aggressive! The couple decided then that it will not work out. I took Spirit home (passing through the crowd that gathered on the boulevard to see what all the growling and barking was about!! :o ).
So now, these people have informed me of a friend of theirs who also lives on a farm, single male in his 50's who has always had boxers in the past, and his son presently has 2. This man asked that if Spirit did not work out with them because of Tara, if he could have the chance of giving him a home. I told them that I would like to meet him of course, so that is being arranged. He also has no other pets, which after seeing Spirits behaviour last night, and all the other issues he has had with aggression towards other dogs, is the best thing. He needs to be in a one dog home, for now anyway.
So, the inevitable has been prolonged and we still get to enjoy Spirits company for a while longer. All the crying that has been done, especially yesterday, has left me feeling emotionally drained. All my kids said their goodbyes to him yesterday, which was very emotional. Now we must go through that again. :(
All of my BW friends have been wonderful with supporting us through this. Your kind words have helped me through this like you wouldn't believe. Thank you to all of you. I will keep you all posted.

well Sharon, I came on here hoping to see a post from you and low and behold. When you said that Spirit had dog issues and the people had a dog I was kind of worried that it wouldnt work out. But Im glad youve found another potential home. How far do these people all live from you. Close enough I hope that you can still go visit Spirit.

Im not the praying type, but I did pray for you our kids and spirit last night (Xena as well :P) I payed that Spirit would understand and not be afraid and know that you love him and that he'd never forget you and youd never forget him. I prayed that you and your kids get through this ok and that Xena doesnt feel sad when hes gone... and then when that was done I cried. i know im a big softie

Sharon you and your kids are such troopers! I'm sending {{{{{hugs}}}}} and Herkie is sending ya'll lots of slobbery kisses and beans! I can't imagine what ya'll are going through right now with the ups and downs of trying to find Spirit a home. You a truly a wonderful Boxermom and I hope you know that. You are making sure that Spirit is going to go to the absolute best home, which I know he deserves. I hope that wherever he goes you'll still be able to visit with him so you and your kids know that he's ok! I'm keeping you in my prayers, and I know that things are going to be looking up for you and your family soon!
