Oh Sharon, sorry to hear you are going through this with Spirit. How difficult to give him up, I know you will find a loving family for him:) ((HUGS TO YOU))

Sorry to hear about the tough times you have gone through. How hard it must be to let one of your babies go and to decide which one. It makes it even harder when the kids don't agree with your decision or place blame on you, but you must know they don't mean the cruel things they say. It is easy to take things out on mom and say ugly things. I know my kids do it. I hope you find the strength to do what you need to do and your kids make peace with your decisions.

It's always sad to hear when one of our Boxerworld family is having a hard time and it certainly sounds like you have some heavy burdens to carry. Along with everyone else, I send my heartfelt thoughts and prayers. What has stood out here is "Spirit", perhaps a symbol and reminder to all of us that despite what might seem insurmountable odds, we are each gifted with a spirit that is capable of taking on anything. In all your adversity, and despite your pain, you have chosen to do what is best for your children and your Spirit. Your strong spirit will see you through. Hang in there. We are all plugging for you.

Elyse, thank you for thinking of us! :) We are having a tough time with the decision to give Spirit a new home. It's a very sad time in my home, when it should be a happy time for us, with the move to a new home and a new beginning. Spirit has brought so much into our lives in the 16mths we have had him. He is quite the character! I know he will be in a good home...happy to have 54 acres to run with another fur-companion and 2 horses!
Gruntsmom...what a beautiful thought. I thank you for that, as it helped to lift my "spirits" as I read it! We will get through this ok..I know we will, but knowing that does not ease the pain we feel right now. I guess the kids and I are a little angry at how life has been so unfair to us lately. We are sick of crap happening to us!! We will persevere...and Spirit will always be in our hearts. We just never imagined he will no longer be in our home. :(
To make things worse, my ex is mad that I am giving Spirit over to a new home. He thinks I should "sneak" him into the new home. A dog his size can't be "sneaked" in anywhere!! The ex is being selfish again and only thinking of himself. He believes I should hold onto him long enough so he can see him one last time. He has no clue as to how the kids and I are suffering with this. I don't need him making me feel more guilty than I already do!!
I will keep you all posted. Thank you again for your support and understanding. It means so much to me. :)

Oh Sharon Im so sorry. Is it a by law that is stopping you, or the acutal alndlord? Here in Ottawa the bylaw is no more than 3 dogs in one house. Have you asked the new landlords if you could have two, maybe bring in some references stating how well behaved and such he is?
How bout your Mom or brother?
Im happy you found a home for him you liked and can still keep in touch with him. I hope everything goes well and give spirit a big hug and kiss from me and Cinny?

Hi Shanz. We have the same bylaw here as well...3 dogs maximum per household. However, management can have their own policy and theirs is a strict "NO DOGS ALLOWED". They say "strict" and make a point of stressing the issue, but I was told I could bring Xena in at my own risk...meaning if there any complaints, I will be given a 60 day notice to relocate her. I know Spirit would not do well there because he is still very young, energetic and noisey. He still has some "dog aggression" issues that we have been working on, but he still has issues! I believe dogs are allowed in general, (as always..small dogs preferred), and this is managements way of covering their butts just incase something did happen, they couldn't be sued! I could fight it...but that won't get me into our new home any time soon!! ;)
Spirit is going to a great home. I am happy for him...just sad for us as he is a very big part of our lives..he is family!! Like I said...life is so unfair, and the kids and I have had our fill of "crap"!! I cannot be selfish and keep him with us just so we feel better. His future is at stake too..why confuse him anymore..ya know? I would chance it, but his aggression towards other dogs could be a problem. :(
He will be leaving us in just a couple of weeks. We are very excited to be moving out of here...FINALLY..but we can't stop the tears from falling as it is not the happy occasion it should be!! Sometimes...life just SUCKS!!

I'm sorry Sharon, if I could I would take him and you could visit him all you wanted :( I couldnt imagine having to give up any of my dogs, but if youre happy with the place hes going to and you know he'll be happy there then you really are doing the best you can for him and your family, its just really sad that happiness has to come at this price :(

Oh...sorry, I forgot to mention that my family is no longer an option for me to give Spirit to. My mom has been very ill lately and is now on morphine for pain. She has her 2 boxer babies already to care for. My brother..hmmm...I have put alot of thought into that, and even though Spirit would be with family and we could see him anytime, my brother is a bit of a boozer, which I always had a problem with. He has 2 dogs..Rottie and Akita/shephard. They run loose and the Akita disappears for 2-3 days at a time. Farmers around here have been known to shoot stray dogs because they cannot have them chasing their horses. PLUS, my brother feeds his dogs the lowest of the lowest grade dog foods (something like $10/50lb bag!!). Anyway..too many "cons" to think if Spirit went there. I think I have made the best choice for a new home for Spirit. I have been VERY picky, but who could blame me. He is my child after all! ;)

It sounds like you found a perfect fit for Spirit. He is going to be so happy and have so much fun with all those acres of grass to eat. There is no doubt he will miss you but you have really handled this in the best possible way. It is going to get worse before it gets better so keep picuturing Spirit prancing around having the time of his life and be sure to give Xena tons of special cuddles and smooches.

As a matter a fact, Nestle, Porter and I are sending her tons wiggles, cuddles and super sloppy boxer smooches!!

Congrats on the new apartment. Here's to new beginnings!
