I agree with Ona Dan, please post it to our chat group! They would love to hear your story and how your boxer girls protected you!
I'm glad you are safe and I am so very proud of the girls for saving you from those boys. I bet they will think twice before doing that again.
Maggie and Susie were definately meant to be with you.

Whoa! What a great story with a good ending. What great, brave girls you have! Makes me proud to be a boxer owner. :)

First of all...glad your safe Dan! I've never been real fearful on walks in Iowa but I do try to stay in residential areas once its dark. I figure Bru would scare anyone on looks alone and if I was in danger I would like to believe he would help me. Amaya would probably be scared like me but maybe she would help Bru??

I hope I never need to test them but Im glad to hear your babies protected you. It makes me feel better that mine would do the same.

Dan,

Thank God for your and your two girls' safety and for them just being there with ya. Like everyone has said, boxer's, no matter how sweet and lovable, will be the fiercest of protectors when it comes to those they love. When I had my first boxer we were walking around the block at night and he all of a sudden he does a 180 degree turn, ears standing, back hair all up and that low, mean sounding growl they do getting louder. I stop to see what the matter was, turn around only to see a very suspicious looking guy dead in his tracks looking at Niko with a horrified look in his eyes. It took him a good 5 seconds before he dashed across the street. I praised Niko and RAN home cause I was so sacred...boxers, they are truely the best breed out there.

Again, glad to hear you and your girls are ok.

Maggie and Suzie

First off, Maggie Mae and Suzie Q, you have earned your keep, second, Dan, I am glad that you are ok, never underestimate a boxer, even though they look like a kidney bean, they are a working breed and i am so, so, so glad that no harm came to you or your wonderful little angelicon!

They deserve lots of hugs, kisses and bones, Dan that would have to be my biggest fear here where i live that something like that will happen, and i cant imagine living in Brooklyn and that happening, I am glad that you are no worse for the wear, and your 2 wonderful girls are protective of you :D
(((((((((Maggie & Suzie)))))))))))))) you both deserve them, and (((((((((((Dan))))))))))) one for you, i know you need it :)

Boxer Insane
Dan, I've already posted my reaction to your story but I wanted to tell you my daughters... Megan is 9 yrs. old. You may have seen my posts where she is always asking me to tell her Boxer Stories from the board. Well she and I went out to lunch yesterday and she asked me if their were any new Boxer stories so I told her yours. She didnt blink through the whole story. You should have seen her face, so intent. She loved hearing how Maggie & Susie saved you. On the way home from the restaurant she asked me to tell it to her again. I think she is proud of your dogs and I think she would like to think Scarlet would do the same for us should she ever have to.

WOW what a story. Glad it had a happy ending. It sounds like your girls deserve a few extra treats for that one.
Now you wount have to worry if a situation like this happens to come up again, hopefully it wount.

Utterly Awesome Maggie & Susie

Dan, you have just demonstrated why a girl from the Bronx moved to the country - lots of stuff like that when I grew up there (and that was over 25 years ago). Our dog Star was always with me when I went out and everyone gave us a wide berth (she was part wolf). I could even tie her up outside a store and people would steer around her.

I know it was scary, and I would take an extre precaution for awhile - if they mentioned trying to take your babies, I would not write it off (not these days) Get yourself some mace as was suggested on another thread here to have in your pocket. I don't want you to think I am an alarmist, but better safe than sorry.

Question:

Do they act differently around different people, are there times when you can tell they just don't like someone?

Mine have showed this several times and then I really look at the person and their eyes and walk a little faster to get by - I trust their instincts a great deal

Lots of hugs & slobbers for your girls - and you too for handling it so well.

Brenda
